Three cities, three studios, three perspectives on architecture and the profession: we invite you to the Festival of Open Architectural Studios, a side event of the International Congress on Healthy Urban Regeneration in Lodz (May 5-6). Which offices will we visit this time?

Ahead of us is the twelfth edition of FOPA, the Festival of Open Architectural Studios organized by A&B since 2018 . FOPA is a unique opportunity to learn about the work of the best Polish and foreign design studios from behind the scenes, get a sneak peek at the way the architects and architects who work in them work, and ask about the challenges of the profession. All meetings will be broadcast live on A&B's YouTube channel and Facebook page.

This time we will visit the offices in Wroclaw, Chorzow and Warsaw:

Arch_it
 May 19, 1 pm

We will start the festival in Wroclaw, at the headquarters of the Arch_it studio, headed by Piotr Zybura, president of the Wroclaw Branch of SARP and a member of the team of the Architect of the City of Wroclaw.

The team masterfully measured itself against both new and existing architecture. Among other things, it has contributed its share to the creation of one of the most important contemporary housing estates in Poland - Wroclaw's Nowe Żerniki, as well as to the restoration to splendor of one of the icons of pre-war modernism - the InfoWuWa pavilion in the unique WuWA estate in the capital of Lower Silesia. They are currently working on another architectural gem - the reconstruction and modernization of one of the pavilions in Wroclaw's iconic Manhattan designed by Jadwiga Grabowska-Hawrylak.

The team of winners of, among others, the SARP 2023 Award of the Year (for the design of the gymnasium for the 13th High School in Wroclaw) or the Award in the XXV edition of the "Beautiful Wroclaw" competition (for the Zatorska 59 residential building) is co-founded by two dogs - Flour, the food expert, and Trufel, the emotional support.

From Lower Silesia we will move to Upper Silesia, more precisely to Chorzow, where there is a studio headed by Maciej Franta. The architect was on the list of the 40 most promising European architects before the age of 40 in 2022, and Chorzow's Villa Reden of his design has won an incredible number of awards!

The Franta Group team has already completed iconic buildings - such as the already famous Żorro, a multi-family building in Żory, or the project to expand the iconic spa in Ustroń Zawodzie together with Robert Konieczny. Recently, the news that the office will design the eighth tower among the point-blocks forming the already iconic Osiedle Walenty Roździeńskiego was widely echoed, thus Maciej Franta will enter into an architectural dialogue with his grandfather, Aleksander Franta, co-creator of the famous "Star Builders"!

Bujnowski Architects

We will end the festival in the capital, with a visit to the Bujnowski Architekci studio in Warsaw's Śródmieście district. The studio's founder, Piotr Bujnowski, is president of the Warsaw Branch of SARP and a lecturer at the Faculty of Architecture at the Warsaw University of Technology.

The winner of the Accessibility Leader 2025 award has become a true specialist in school design: Elementary School No. 400 in Warsaw won the SARP 2021 Award of the Year, and Elementary School No. 406 in Białołęka was recognized for its pro-environmental solutions during the 11th edition of the Architectural Award of the President of Warsaw and the SARP 2025 Award of the Year. Something feels like we will be able to learn a lot from this team!
