The bedroom through the eyes of architects - some ideas for storage

Between dream and reality - a closet for dimensions

Since we don't always have a spacious private area - for example, in historic tenements or blocks of flats - and clothes must have their own place, we opt for closets in the bedroom, usually ones made to measure.

According to Agnieszka Pasieka-Adamek of Atoato, clients who are limited by the square footage most often choose built-in closets with sliding doors in the bedroom itself:

I recommend smoked glass fronts, where you can see what is in the closet, but at the same time the color is muted, and clothes do not get dusty. If in the alcove, intended for the closet, there is little space for the tracks for the slides in the sliding doors, to gain extra centimeters for storage, it is better to use hinged doors. Nowadays on the market there are plenty of colors and materials to choose from, with which we can make them, and which one we choose mainly depends on the style of the entire interior and the amount we want to spend on a piece of furniture.

Architects unanimously emphasize the importance of the interior of the closet, which we can equip almost as comprehensively as closets. Separators for jewelry or watches, pull-out hangers for pants, pantographs, i.e. rods that lower hangers, various sizes of openwork baskets and drawers - all this can be freely configured according to your needs. In closets, too, it is worth using backlighting of individual zones, which definitely improves their aesthetics and functionality.

Custom-made furniture is also the optimal choice for space under the haunches.

We love sloping roofs," argues Ewa Tatar, " and building up the space underneath them with a custom-made closet is a good idea. In the lower parts we can plan drawers or a bar with hangers for blouses or pants, in the higher parts clothes that require more space. We architects like to suggest frameless systems to clients, as the most discreet, elegant and up-to-date.

It's worth taking a longer look at the choice of doors, because , as Malgorzata Karaś-Jamrocha believes: they are one of the most important elements of furniture. They should be the decoration of the room and for me they are always a challenge! A classic door - a hinged one, with borders, a beautiful veneer or lacquer, a traditional or aged mirror, or perhaps with a modern extravagant wallpaper or graphics - will always add character to the interior and create the atmosphere of the entire bedroom. In my interior design projects, I try to sensitize clients to color and beautiful form and individuality. In our gray, fast-paced life we often forget this, and yet in bedrooms and dressing rooms it is also worth avoiding templates and the "we've seen it somewhere before" effect.
