The Board of City Investments in Krakow has announced a tender to support the preparation and execution of two architectural and urban planning competitions. To be designed will be multi-family residential buildings with social housing for rent. Where are the new housing estates to be built?
The city of Krakow is planning to build two residential developments with rental units. The new multi-family buildings are to be built on Dekerta Street and Wielicka Street. The Municipal Investment Board, which is responsible, among other things, for the issue of new municipal housing units in Krakow, is seeking support in organizing limited, one-stage architectural competitions for the two new social buildings, announcing a tender for this purpose. The contract covers both the preparation and announcement of the competitions, as well as their organization, including the selection of the winning works, the announcement of the results, and the preparation of post-competition documentation and documents for the conclusion of a contract with the author of the selected work.
Interested parties can submit bids for the tender until December 22, 2025 at 10 a.m., and the envelopes are scheduled to be opened shortly after that date. More information is available on the eContractor platform.
Krakow will build new housing estates in the Podgórze area
The first of the investments is planned on Jana Dekerta Street in Krakow's Podgórze district, where the street intersects with Walowa Street. Plots of land with a total area of 0.9677 hectares, located in close proximity to the railroad flyover, are to be developed. A brief description of the investment, which is part of the tender materials, reads:
The project should be designed as a complex of low-intensity multi-family buildings with high architectural aesthetics, with underground garages and a pocket park, the shape and development of which should be in accordance with the project and the guidelines of the Urban Greenery Board. At the same time, the urban layout and architecture should strive to achieve the highest possible number of apartments, while complying with the current building code and the provisions of the local zoning plan (mpzp).
The park part of the estate was designed with the participation of the Board of Urban Greenery in Krakow.
The second of the planned estates is to be built on the initial section of Wielicka Street, near where Jerozolimska Street joins it. The total area to be developed is 3923 square meters, and there are already two multi-family buildings nearby. As in the case of the planned project on Jana Dekerta Street, the tender documents included a general specification for the development to be built on Wielicka Street:
The project should be designed as a complex of multi-family buildings with high architectural aesthetics, with underground garages and landscaping. At the same time, the urban layout and architecture should strive to achieve the highest possible number of apartments, while complying with the current building code and the provisions of the local zoning plan (mpzp).
