Loft-inspired interior designed by Czajkowski Kuźniak Architects

26 of May '20

In this Katowice apartment of a young family, the architects thought about the needs of each resident. Hence, the individual rooms - dedicated to specific household members - are designed with attention to the smallest detail, as if the designers' task was to create just this one space.

Theapartment is created directly for a young family with children - two-story with a terrace on the roof. This top-down division also determined the functional thinking of the designers from Czajkowski Kuźniak Architekci studio about the space. In its upper part a living zone was created, in the lower - a night zone. The former included a kitchen combined with a kitchenette, which can be separated from the rest of the room, and a terrace overlooking the roof of the building. In the second - the bedrooms of the householders, the main bathroom and the study.

lofty atmosphere

The investors wanted an elegant interior with a loft-like atmosphere. Elements characteristic of this style can be found in the form of raw brick or metal door frames, among others. However, the entire interior is subdued, with bright colors dominating, apart from a few strong local accents - syena-colored graphics in the entrance area or graphite terrazzo in the kitchen. The space is warmed by wooden wall laths found here and there, which hide household appliances in the bathroom.

In an apartment without right angles

One of the distinctive features of this project are the rounded corners of the walls and furniture development. The kitchen closed behind glazing framed in burgundy, the roundness in the bedroom or in the entrance area. The architects were also tempted to make small references - the streamlined shape is duplicated by the shelf hanging above the sofa in the living room and oval mirrors in the hallway and bathroom.

An interesting and at the same time promising numerous adventures space is the child's room. The bed was placed on the floor of a structure made of plywood, under which there is a desk. On one side, the architects hid a small climbing wall and a swing. Any fall from a height will be cushioned by a mattress and pillows on the floor. There is also a barred window overlooking a semi-enclosed learning space. It is a child's play and relaxation zone!
