Why are mortgages in Poland so expensive? How do energy prices relate to inflation? Katarzyna Szostak discusses how political rationality (does not) go hand in hand with economic rationality with Prof. Marek Belka.

Prof. Marek Belka - politician and economist. A graduate of the University of Lodz, he received his doctorate in 1978, his habilitation in 1986 and the title of professor of economic sciences in 1994. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance in 1997 and from 2001 to 2002. Prime Minister of the Polish Government from 2004 to 2005, and between 2010 and 2016 President of the National Bank of Poland. From 2019 to 2024, Prof. Marek Belka was a member of the European Parliament.

The conversation took place during the Open Eyes Economy Summit 2024, an event of which Architecture&Business was a media partner. This year's Value Economy Congress was held under the theme "The Soul of Europe."
