HOUSE FOR N+S

proj.: b o a a, cooperation: J. Ankiersztajn

[excerpt from author's description]

House for N+S is a design of a simple building for a family that wanted to live closer to nature. The main design goal was to create a building that would preserve the natural beauty of the existing plot and that would interfere as little as possible with the existing ecosystem. The external expression of the building is deliberately simplified and was reduced to a square form covered by an asymmetrical gabled roof. The façade materials were chosen to be low-maintenance and to patina naturally over time, turning an increasingly gray hue.

HOUSE ON THE RIVER

proj.: Wrzeszcz Architekci, Pulva (interiors)

[excerpt from author's description]

The main factor determining the layout of the house was the surrounding nature. The primary design consideration was to provide a view of the river bend from all rooms and to use natural building materials - wood. The house was shaped as a simple block, in which spaces were "cut" to let the environment closer to the residents. This resulted in a large terrace with a lounge area, a canopy for the entire southern glass facade, a kitchen patio, a small terrace for children, and an entrance area with a utility room and a canopy for a car.

DOM_POZ_7

proj.: PL.architekci, cooperation: Patrycja Dembowy, Bartosz Stanek

[Excerpt from author's description]

The house, according to the project's concept, was supposed to be a modern barn, but look as if it was part of the Wielkopolska landscape and had been standing there for a long time. The main body of the building is a gabled roofed open space with a visible roof truss. The roof extends beyond the gable walls - on the west side creating a terrace canopy. The gable walls are entirely glazed - providing all the time contact with the environment. The entire block is clad in Siberian larch without any impregnation - the wood patinates, allowing the building to grow into the surroundings.

HOUSE FROM AN OLD BARN - THE SECOND LIFE OF BRICK

proj: Wrzeszcz Architects, Zofia Wyganowska (interiors), Zuzanna Hybiak (greenery).

[excerpt from author's description]

During the design process, the investor and I came up with the idea not only to be inspired by the best local architecture, but also to use it directly. And so the plan was to buy back and dismantle an old, abandoned barn and build a new house from this material. Bricks from the old barn were used to create a new facade. The historic material gives the place a unique atmosphere and mood. The façade consists of four types of brick ties with different levels of carving and transparency. The openwork brick walls let views into the interiors and connect them to the surroundings.

BETWEEN THE TREES - STRZESZYN

proj.: Insomia

[excerpt from author's description]

We tried, drawing on our experience, to create a premise that is a search for something between a house and an apartment - a synergy/combination of the advantages of both. Human scale correlated with actual human needs resulted in the design of rational, functional, compact and energy-efficient houses-apartments. The average size of a dwelling unit is 68 m². Repetition of solids gave way to differentiation. The urban planning of the estate is the result of avoiding conflicts with existing greenery - development between trees. Respect for what is found.

COURTYARD OF POZNAN CITY OFFICE

proj.: Atelier Starzak Strebicki

[excerpt from author's description]

An oasis of greenery, a street café, a community center, an urban agora. These are the new incarnations of the courtyard of Poznań City Hall, which has been transformed from a parking lot for cars into a meeting place for residents. The square was developed with a family of wooden objects tailored to the needs of different user groups. The basic elements are: two round large benches around the existing flowerbeds, as well as fourteen mobile seats and twenty year-round pots with greenery. The mobile seats can be added to the pots or set up in an amphitheater-like arrangement - a circular shape with a podium in its central part.

The space was defined by an arrangement of solids made of 23 containers and wooden boxes arranged on 1800 m² of sandy terrain. The containers house a meeting room and gallery, a music and workshop studio, food outlets, an office, warehouses and toilets. A stage is located between the warehouses.

HERE YOU ARE FREE to play ball - Jordan Garden No. 1 in Poznań

proj.: UGO Architecture

[excerpt from author's description]

The premise of the project was to expose a flat island drowning in greenery with playing fields. The first stage of construction work included the construction of sports fields with a connecting plaza, called "the heart" in the design. The entire area was lined with blue tartan, the fields were delineated with white lines, and the common space was enhanced with additional graphics. The largest pitch is multifunctional. It was adapted to the requirements of four sports. The smaller pitch is designed for basketball and floorball. Both are surrounded by mesh picket fences, which prevent balls from escaping outside the playing area.

DEVELOPMENT OF THE SURROUNDINGS OF THE KONIN ROAD POLE

proj.: PROSTO Architekci

[excerpt from author's description]

A fragment of the green square next to St. Bartholomew's Church serves as an open space for visitors. The function of the new development of the surroundings of the Konin Road Pillar is to bring out the qualities of the monument and emphasize its historical importance. The exposition of the Pillar in a simplified to a minimum environment in the form of a steel path ("rusted" corten steel) sunk in the lawn is to emphasize this intention. In addition, an educational element is the translation of the ancient Latin inscription carved on the Post in the form of sheet metal cut-out openwork letters located on the path.

HOUSE ON THE GREAT LAKE

proj.: TXMA Tomasz aleXander Mielczyński ARCHITECT

[excerpt from author's description]

The design task is to create a contemporary, comfortable holiday home in the cultural context of the Great Masurian Lakes. The investor is a sailor, a lover of nature, lakes, forest and good cuisine. "I need a place that gives solace," he says, "it's very important that I can see the lake from every room. That's why the house opens to the south like a big telescope. The main body of the house is clad in tan spruce wood, painted with varnish. Across to this long, black body lies a sort of transept of red brick - for contrast and to soothe tired eyes.

HOTEL PURO LODZ

design: ASW Architekci Ankiersztajn Stankiewicz Wroński

[excerpt from author's description]

The Puro Hotel building is located across the street from one of Lodz's most recognizable architectural landmarks, the Izrael Poznanski Palace. Large, rhythmic squares of windows build the glass plane of the front facade, which reflects the image of the palace. From inside the hotel rooms one can admire its rich form. The building's façade design was directly inspired by "Reliefs" by Henryk Stażewski, one of the most recognizable representatives of 20th century art in Lodz. The isolated windows represent the division into rooms.

RECONSTRUCTION OF GDANSK THEATER

design: Author's Architectural Studio Jacek Bułat

[excerpt from author's description]

Our architectural adventure with the Wybrzeze Theater in Gdansk began with winning a nationwide architectural competition. The design task consisted of a building with the Main Stage separated by a narrow Theater Street from the other three buildings, which were partly newly acquired by the Theater necessary for the creation of two new stages. The creation of these stages would further enable a major renovation and reconstruction of the Main Stage. Therefore, these three facilities were chosen for the first stage of the reconstruction.

BRONEK - a private apartment in the Poznan Brewery

proj.: UGO Architecture

[excerpt from author's description]

The interior design was realized in one of the apartments located in Poznan's Warzelnia. The apartment, with an area of 95 m², consists of a first floor with a living room, an open kitchen with a dining room and a toilet, and a mezzanine, which was designed as a private space for the owners with a bedroom, a dressing room and an open bathroom with a bathtub. The main consideration when designing the interior was to plan the functions in such a way as not to obscure the view of the forest, to accommodate the owners' extensive collection of vinyl records and wine, and to preserve the character of the open space. As a result, the only separate room in the apartment is the toilet on the first floor, the rest of the zones became a homogeneous space.

OPEN APARTMENT

proj.: b o a a

[excerpt from author's description]

The apartment has an area of 72 m² and is located in the center of Poznań in the attic of a tenement house. The main design condition was to create for two people a house with a possibly open plan, bright, from which it will be possible to admire the beautiful panorama of the Old Town. To this end, it was decided to reduce the number of closed rooms and partitions to a minimum. The centrally located "island" or "house in the house" was equipped with shutters, which can be closed and opened as desired - to cook together with guests sitting in the living room or even to hide from them. After closing the shutters in the kitchen, the side of the island can become a place for film projection in the living room. The interior block is 2.5 meters high, which allowed to create an additional mezzanine space on its roof.

The Vanity Club is located in a historic 500 m² space in a historic building in the center of Poznań. Due to the nature of the place, during the design process we decided to leave and uncover all the original interior elements and unify the background colors. We designed a series of furnishings and furniture specifically for the place, which were made by local artisans. For the project we invited two local street artists: Someart and Dumin and we gave them part of the corridor wall. Artist Gregory Bibro is responsible for the neon installations.

CITY CRÈCHE NO. 1 IN WĄGROWIEC

proj.: Pracownia21

[excerpt from author's description]

This exceptionally beautiful nursery was built in Wągrowiec. The simple modernist form blends perfectly with the surrounding area and the designed green spaces. Designed around an outdoor courtyard with large facades, it ensures that the natural greenery permeates the interiors of the building. The interiors are dominated by the color white, while a large green area in front of the facility, an interior patio covered with pergolas, and climbing plants growing on the facility draw natural greenery into the rooms of the nursery through the facades. It has been equipped with mechanical ventilation with recuperation, an air heat pump supporting an ecological gas furnace, which optimizes energy consumption.
