Theater - a space to experience architecture

23 of October '20

Theater can be a space to experience architecture - not only through majestic edifices, but also through unique scenography. "Scenography is a very broad concept of working with space: related to architecture, light, video - the elements I often use as a kind of light, related to technology, sculpture, graphics. Scenography is very multidisciplinary, it's a machine, a spatial sculpture that helps us tell stories." - Boris Kudlička, the author of many stage designs, said in an interview with A&B.

The theater hides many secrets. Only the common spaces are accessible to the audience: lobby, stage, auditorium, cafeteria. And the theater is also a whole background, a whole huge staff of people working together on a given project. At the Słowacki Theater many interesting and unknown stories are already enchanted within the walls of the building. We will try to unveil them all one by one. The theater is also the art of stage design, costume design, light, studios of long-forgotten arts and professions.

Thanks to the cooperation established with the Słowacki Theater in Krakow, we will "strip" the theater of its mystery a bit for our readers, tell what goes on behind the scenes, how the plays and their individual elements are created. We will unveil a bit of magic, because theater is magic after all.

But before that, we would like to invite you to a performance of "Ameri Cane" based on the script and directed by Mirek Kaczmarek, which will premiere on October 25, 2020.

Ameri Cane is an American dog? Or perhaps a frothy America? Or simply a play on the name of the character created by Fred Buscaglione - Americano? Ameri Cane is a musical, jazzy and very personal story about a middle-aged man with long, curly hair, wearing a white suit. About a man singing in Italian phrases by Fred Buscaglione, and speaking in the words of Charles Bukowski. On the stage is Grzegorz Lukawski. He is accompanied by Halina Jarczyk's band.... And a great silhouette. However, this is a mystery that you must discover for yourself by coming to the performance. This is a strong performance - for an adult audience.

Come to the theater! In these difficult times, let yourself be captivated by art.
A&B is a patron of the performance "Ameri Cane".
