Westival in Szczecin will be held in autumn for the 16th time. Organized by the Szczecin branch of the Association of Polish Architects, the event is a platform for discussions about architecture and the city, and this year will adopt the formula of short speeches known from TEDx conferences.
Since 2007, Szczecin has hosted Westival, a festival dedicated, as the organizers themselves write, to architecture in the broadest sense.
The name of the event refers to the western edge, but more broadly understood, it can be read as crossing borders in architecture
- they emphasize.
In 2024, during the 15th edition of the Westival under the slogan "Architecture of Dialogue," the organizers have slightly changed the previous formula and abandoned the preparation of a stationary exhibition in favor of live televised public debates.

This experience prompted the organizers to develop the event in the formula of live discussion, this time as a series of short speeches (up to 18 minutes) by representatives of various fields (science, culture, architecture, technology, society, art), to be followed by panel discussions.
Preparations for this year's Westival in Szczecin have begun! The event will take place in October 2026, and the organizers have begun the search for a curator_ka and the festival's theme.
Who can apply for this role?
To organize the next edition of Westival, we would like to invite architecture critics, architects, and representatives of the academic community

What will be the tasks of the curator_ka?
- To propose a theme for the 16th edition of the Westival, which will refer to current issues and problems in architecture, urban planning and city planning, along with a broad socio-economic and cultural context. An additional advantage will be the selection of a theme that could resonate in both the local and national spheres.
- Inviting and securing the participation of guests from Poland and abroad, some fifteen speakers, representing a high level of expertise in the issues they will address.
- Moderating sessions and panel discussions.
What will SARP Szczecin Branch take care of?
- Employing an organizational director of the Westival, indicated by the curator or SARP Szczecin Branch (the director's task will be to organize and coordinate the event from the logistical side).
- Selection of the venue for the event, along with making formal arrangements.
- Organization of local accompanying events, which are an integral part of the Westival (tours with city guides, socio-cultural events).
What does SARP Szczecin Branch offer to the curator_ce?
- Remuneration determined individually on the basis of an agreement between the curator and SARP Szczecin Branch.
- Reimbursement of transportation and accommodation costs during the Westival.
- Organizational support from SARP Szczecin Branch members and volunteers from the Faculty of Architecture at ZUT.
