Flemish formula competition for the design of an urban park in Warsaw's Wilanów district

17 of November '20

Morelia Investments, CEETRUS Poland and the Warsaw branch of the Association of Polish Architects invite you to participate in an implementation competition conducted under the Flemish formula for the development of a concept for an urban park in Warsaw's Wilanów district.

flemish formula

This competition is not anonymous - it will be preceded by a preliminary qualification of candidates (Stage I), and then inviting three to five participants to the stage of workshops and selection of the best competition works (Stage II).

The prizes in the competition are cash prizes amounting to a total of PLN 55,000 gross (1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes) and an invitation to the winner to negotiate a contract for the execution of the subject of the contract. What's more, each of the competition participants who takes part in Stage II and submits a complete competition work, regardless of the monetary prizes awarded, will receive a remuneration of PLN 20,000 gross.

urban park in Wilanow

The aim of the competition is to obtain the best concept in terms of both architectural, spatial and functional-utility aspects of an urban park in Warsaw's Wilanów district. The park is planned in the southern part of the Wilanów Township, on an undeveloped and devoid of high greenery area in the immediate vicinity of Warsaw's Southern Ring Road, at the end of the axis of Rzeczypospolitej Avenue.

The new park will be part of a larger development called Wilanów Park - a multifunctional complex including, among other things, office space and entertainment and recreation areas, which is planned at the intersection of Przyczółkowa, Uprawna, Rzeczypospolitej Avenue and Karuzela Street.

The Wilanów Park complex, as we read in the competition description, should include space for neighborhood initiatives or activities aimed at seniors.

The over two-hectare park, which is an integral part of the project, will become the first and only park of this scale in Warsaw developed entirely by a private investor. The investment envisages numerous pro-environmental solutions, having an impact on reducing carbon dioxide emissions, local rainwater retention or ensuring biodiversity. The project includes solutions to promote sustainable mobility, including a city bike or cargo-bike station.
