Design a winter pavilion in London! Switch Competitions

03 of September '20

Ubiquitous white and gray, fluffy snow, bare trees and icicles. In a word - winter. A harsh and tranquil landscape, lit up in December with colorful Christmas lights, filled with the smell of spices and the joy of winter sports. Unfortunately, it is increasingly rare that we have the opportunity to experience such a picturesque, white winter. An opportunity to reminisce about sledding or snowball battles can be provided by participating in a competition organized by Switch Competitions to design a winter pavilion in London's Hyde Park.

The competition task is to design a multi-purpose pavilion in London's Hyde Park that will combine people, nature and architecture. Contestants are free to choose the function of the building to fit their narrative.

Celebrating the winter landscape, the pavilion should enliven the area by offering walkers a variety of activities. Located in such a prestigious location as London's Hyde Park, it is intended to be a cultural and recreational focal point for locals and tourists alike, a space integrated into the park's natural environment and flexible enough to adapt to the activities it hosts. Moreover, the pavilion should enhance the olfactory, tactile and visual sensations and experiences of visitors, enable reflection on the tangible and intangible components of the natural environment, and allow people to be closer to nature in its wintertime setting.

Theprizes are as follows:

First place: EUR 1,200
Second place: EUR 800
Third place: EUR 500.

Registration runs from September 1 to November 29 this year, works should be sent by November 30 this year, winners will be announced at the end of December. You can find detailed information here.

We are keeping our fingers crossed!
