A picturesque, historic neighborhood, the very center of the city, and no customers. The Przystań Bydgoszcz restaurant may be in need of renovation, and its design was proposed by Weronika Przybyszewska in her thesis created for the interior design course at {tag:University}. Her thesis was created under the direction of Dr. Julia Wleklinskaya and was awarded by the Mayor of Bydgoszcz.
The project is located on the Mill Island in Bydgoszcz. It is an area surrounded by the waters of the Brda and Młynówka rivers, with an area of about 6.5 hectares, entirely under conservation protection. Located in the very center of the city, it is therefore a place frequently frequented by residents. Covered with greenery and rich in historic buildings, walking paths and beautiful views, it is also an attractive destination for tourists.

restaurant on the site of a former mill
The island's history is linked to industry and milling activities. Until the 19th century it was independent of the city, and it was not until the 1970s that the island's economy began to decline. Today, the area is on the provincial register of protected cultural and natural monuments.
An object that draws the attention of both residents, tourists and the jury of many competitions is the Bydgoszcz Marina, at 2 Tamka Street, completed as part of the program to revitalize the cultural and natural resources of Mill Island and its surroundings. Its interesting body was built on the site of the former "WKS" Zawisza marina. Inside there is a restaurant, which, according to the observations of the project's author, is not very popular. She sees the reason for this in the low standard of the Marina's interior, which has not been renovated since the building was constructed. Moreover, access to it is difficult - the premises are located on the third level of the building.

In the new design of the Marina, the transformation of the main entrance to the premises was designed so that it leads directly to the reception area. To further facilitate access to the restaurant, the designer proposed the construction of a footbridge over a narrow section of the Brda River, between the Przystania and the Rothera Mills. From there, a staircase was delineated, leading straight to the restaurant level, as well as a stair elevator, allowing access also for people with physical disabilities.
Such a Marina that it makes you want to stop
The refreshed design of the interior of the Marina Bydgoszcz refers to its external character, characterized by modern aesthetics. The selected materials have been kept in natural earth colors, which corresponds to the island's green areas. The predominance of light tones helps to optically enlarge and refresh the interior.

A new bar lined with fins stands out in the design. In the main restaurant room, the designer opted for comfortable wooden chairs with soft upholstery. Time spent there can be made more pleasant by live piano concerts courtesy of an instrument located in the back of the building. Alternatively, restaurant customers can choose seats in the outdoor garden, located by the water, decorated with standing spherical lamps.
The Bydgoscz Marina, in a design by Weronika Przybyszewska, has gained not only a renovation of the restaurant part, but also a new hotel wing. The decor of the rooms, both single and double, refers stylistically to the whole development. The same type of oak wood runs through the interiors, as do the round shapes that dominate the furniture and lighting.

Weronika Przybyszewska's project is a proposal to refresh a facility with great tourist potential, where traffic has come to a standstill. Thanks to the proposed refresh, not only tourists and customers can return to the Marina, but with them life, live music, evenings spent in the garden by the water, and even dancing.
