The International Architecture Biennale in Krakow has been organized by the Krakow branch of SARP since 1985, the theme of this year's edition - "RE-USE" is a response not only to the still ongoing pandemic, but also to social and economic changes that often involve changes in the function of buildings and public spaces.

You can read more about the theme of this year's edition in our MBA Kraków 2021 news release.

The creators of the Krakow biennale were guided by the idea of connecting and integrating the local architectural community. In order to jointly shape this initiative, a Program Council was established, made up of association circles - the Association of Polish Architects, local government circles - the Małopolska Regional Chamber of Architects of the Republic of Poland, scientific circles - the Faculty of Architecture of the Krakow University of Technology and media circles - A&B magazine.

four thematic tracks

Scheduled for October 26 and 27 this year, the meeting at the ICE Congress Center in Krakow is divided into four thematic paths centered around topics and areas of Krakow that are undergoing dynamic transformations - The Life of Objects, Districts, Cities (panel curator: Piotr Chuchacz); Aleje Trzech Wieszczów: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow (panel curator: Marta A. Urbańska); Industrial Heritage of Nowa Huta (panel curator: Marcin Brataniec); From Past to Future. Urban planning workshops for the Wesoła district (curator of the panel and workshops: Małgorzata Tomczak).

The program will include lectures, discussions, interdisciplinary design workshops (starting with a site visit already on October 25 and continuing for the next two days in the ICE foyer) and an urban game (scheduled for Saturday, October 23).
