A house made of modules that intertwine with lush greenery - such a vision of an Argentine idyll is proposed by students from Wydział Architektury Politechniki Śląskiej: Oliwia Stan, Patrycja Stelmach and Weronika Przybylak. Their project "Somewhere Between" has been shortlisted as a finalist in an international competition!
The premise of the competition was to create a single-family home located on the Paraná River in Argentina. The plot of land chosen for the project is located between an area covered with wild vegetation and a grid-plan development. The main goal of the authors was to create a building that would not disturb the natural environment.

The designed house is built modularly. Each function to be performed corresponds to one of the modules, which are arranged on a grid. As a result, the exterior easily intermingles with the interior of the modules, and the garden intertwines with the buildings. The modules with the children's room and the parents' bedroom are placed in a place offering the greatest privacy. Straight from the bedroom you can also go to the bathroom, without having to leave the module.

The living area is located in a module placed in the center of the development. From it, through a glass door, one can go out to the terrace, which only gently rises above the ground level.
The kitchen along with the dining room, as well as the general bathroom along with utility rooms (pantry, dressing room, boiler room and laundry room) are planned in the eastern part of the plot. The kitchen and master bedroom are connected by a covered passageway made of wood and glass elements.

Each individual module measures 5.4 m x 8.4 m and is created from glulam poles. Such a construction allows the space to be plasticized and the walls to be shaped flexibly. As a result, the modules can be freely opened and closed to the garden. Sliding panels, of which the walls are made, also allow this. They can be rotated and exchanged from glass to wood according to the needs of the space.
the process of shaping the modules
proj.; Weronika Przybylak, Oliwia Stan, Patrycja Stelmach
To create the modules, the authors mainly used wood, glass and concrete. They explain that these materials strongly relate to their surroundings, while at the same time not disturbing the character of the space.
The emphasis placed on such rich glazing of the buildings is due to the need for the interior to blend with the dense greenery covering the plot. Greenery also covers some of the wooden pillars.
Among the tree species that grow on the project site are willow, carob pod and magnificent downy. The authors also planned plantings of species such as crested erythrina,, American agave and purple verbena.

An interesting choice is also furniture, which is kept in almost uniform colors. Their warm colors enhance the impression of coziness and naturalness of the modules.
