It's a brand new formula and a new opportunity for the city - the Repair the City Foundation and the Częstochowa City Hall are starting recruitment for the "Old City: OdNowa" workshop . Until February 22, 30 urban planners_women, architects_women and sociologists_women are being sought, who together will develop a strategy for the Częstochowa district for 2050. This is an urban planning hackathon like never before!
This will not be a race for a prize, but a cooperative activity of five interdisciplinary teams that will work on a vision for the development of the Old Town of Częstochowa. Participants, selected in the recruitment process, will receive a stipend - compensation for workshop work in the amount of PLN 1,000 gross (paid regardless of the final decisions of the jury), and will be provided with accommodation and food for the duration of the workshop.
how to participate?
People between the ages of 18 and 35 can apply to participate in the workshop, which will be held stationary, in Czestochowa, March 9-13, 2026.
You can apply individually or in teams (from 4 to 6 people). The recruitment task must be completed by February 22. What counts in it is how you see the surrounding space - you should send a photo showing something that you think is not working and describe in a few sentences how you would fix this selected part of the city.
macro vision and urban acupuncture
On the basis of these micro-diagnoses of space, thirty participants will be selected, who will meet in Czestochowa on March 9 and together begin a 5-day workshop. They will work in teams, on two tracks: creating a macro vision for the district by 2050 and designing urban acupuncture, i.e. precise interventions in public space, possible to implement in the short term. This is important because the City actually plans to go a step further - it has declared a budget of PLN 250,000 for the implementation of the selected detail or small architecture project in 2027.
After the workshop, participants will have two weeks to refine their designs online. A presentation of the designs and a debate will take place in April.
We are moving away from producing visualizations for a drawer. We are committed to making sure that participants work on hard data and in contact with the real urban fabric, not just in a virtual model. The implementation budget guarantee is proof that we treat the results of this work as ready documentation for change, and not just an academic exercise
- says Pawel Wyszomirski, president of the Napraw Sobie Miasto Foundation.
The work of the teams will be supported by mentors_rks and experts_who work in the fields of architecture, ecology and landscape, transportation, urban planning, small architecture prototyping, revitalization and documentation: Tomasz Konior (architect, Konior Studio), Przemo Łukasik (architect, Medusa Group), Oskar Grąbczewski (architect, OVO Grąbczewscy Architekci), Filip Springer (reporter, urban expert), Joanna Rayss (landscape architect), Marcin Domański (GZM Department of Communications and Transport), Agnieszka Majorek-Gdula (urban planner), Fulco System (prototyping urban furniture 1:1), Michal Lorbiecki (urban planner of the City of Chorzow), Wojciech Januszczyk (landscape architect), Dagmara Mliczyńska-Hajda (Reviplan), Juliusz Sętowski (Documentation Manager of the Częstochowa History Center).
