“Best Interior Design Thesis”
I have always been fascinated by the fact that, despite all technological progress, humans remain vulnerable to the greatest forces of nature. Hurricanes, fires, earthquakes, and floods—these aren’t just headlines in the news, but also a reminder that we live on a planet shaped by powerful, untamed elements. This theme became the starting point for my master’s thesis—an exhibition that allows visitors to feel as if they are at the very heart of the four elements: air, fire, earth, and water. I wanted viewers not only to see them in an artistic form, but also to truly experience their power, beauty, and unpredictability.

“The Four Elements” is an immersive, multimedia spatial narrative in which the viewer becomes a participant in a journey through successive zones dedicated to the elements. Monumental white walls with organic, morphic shapes delineate four distinct spaces, evoking images of ice formations sculpted by nature. The exhibition’s layout allows visitors to move about without a set route—they can wander freely, return to selected spots, and climb a winding path to an elevated level from which to view the entire installation from various perspectives. The path leads to a ring-shaped mezzanine—the exhibition’s climax and a space for rest.

In each zone, motion sensors trigger sequences of projections, sounds, and physical effects—ranging from gusts of wind to vibrations to simulations of lightning strikes. This allows visitors to experience the energy of the elements not only through sight and hearing, but with their entire bodies. The walls serve as projection screens, and their hidden interiors house the technical equipment necessary for the installation to function.

The project was designed with prestigious international events, such as Expo, in mind, as well as for use as a permanent exhibition in science museums or convention centers. It was inspired by nature-themed documentaries and feature films—particularly those that confront humans with the untamed power of nature.

“The Four Elements” is a space where the boundary between the viewer and the exhibition blurs. Projection mapping, animations, films, and interactive objects create a continuous spectacle, while the changing and dynamic scenography captures the drama of the elements. A journey through the pavilion allows visitors to see how these elements intertwine and complement one another, and at the same time, how they can become a threat.

The theme is timely and universal—it addresses issues of ecology, humanity’s relationship with nature, and an awareness of nature’s power. The exhibition not only offers an intense, multisensory experience but also inspires reflection on our place in a world that has always been shaped by the four elements.
