Co-Lessons. A history of Polish design

© ONTO Studio

Looking at the outstanding history of Polish design is gaining wider and wider circles, as more and more publications and exhibitions are being created on the subject, and design specimens, whether original or inspired, are also increasingly finding their way into both public and private interiors. Who among us wouldn't want to have a cult armchair 366 designed by Józef Chierowski, tableware from Ćmielów or a Mono chaise longue by Tomek Augustyniak? But good Polish design is not only the 1960s [...]

In this era of pandemonium, many people spend most of their time in their own homes, which generates the need to revise the living space to our real needs. We are well aware of the triumphant trends of Danish hygge or Swedish fica, which have been celebrating for several years, which refers not only to what we do to slow down, catch balance and harmony, but also how and with whom. It's a certain state of mind and way of being. But how has our approach actually been validated by current [...]

Mosaic designed by Pigalopus studio at Unicorn ice cream shop in Warsaw, Poland

Work began last year on Warsaw's small ice cream parlor Unicorn, which will be enriched by an unobvious element that refers both to the aesthetics of the place and what is served there. The mosaic designed by Malwina Borowiec and Karolina Chodur of the Pigalopus studio is the icing on the cake of artisanal flavors and fairy tale motifs, suggested by the ice cream shop's name. Ice cream, unicorn and good design seem to be a great combination that takes us to an alternative space to 2020 [...]

architecture

Architecture is the art of designing and building spatial forms and shaping the space between them. According to Vitruvius, author of the treatise "On Architecture of Books Ten," the basic principles of designing and constructing buildings are durability, utility and beauty.

Architecture provides a framework for living, working, learning and entertaining. The history of architecture is also the history of human civilization. It has shaped and changed over the centuries in accordance with the needs, current trends and available technological solutions. To this day, we can marvel at the elements of architecture of ancient cultures, admire the dominant styles in different centuries and see the diversity in architecture in different parts of the world.
