Voting for the best student project in the competition for the expansion and reconstruction of a tenement house in Tarnow, Poland

We encourage you to vote for the Audience Award in the competition for the extension and remodeling of the tenement house in Tarnów, Rynek 6, organized for male and female students of the Faculty of Architecture at the Cracow University of Technology. To indicate your favorite or favorites, just cast your vote - you can vote only once and only for one project*. Voting lasts from March 3 to March 23, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. The author or author of the work with the highest number of votes will receive a diploma and a one-year subscription to the monthly magazine "A&B".

The competition was an opportunity to reflect on the concept of expansion and reconstruction of an existing tenement house in Tarnow at Market Square 6. The aim of the project was to create a modern urban space that would integrate the functions of public utility and architectural innovation. The competition task included not only the development of an architectural concept, but also a functional and urban design.

The male and female students faced the ambitious challenge of creating a project in the inner city. Their work was created as part of a class organized by WA PK's A-2 Public Architecture Team, and the design process began with a site visit in October 2024. At that time, the participants had the opportunity to meet with the mayor of Tarnów, Jakub Kwaśny, who introduced them to the issues of the site and its historical and urban context.

The competition entries were judged by a jury chaired by Dr. Wieslaw Michalek and composed of: Jacek Adamczyk (Director of the Center for Dialogue - Idea Tarnów) - secretary, Dr.Bartosz Dendura (WA PK), Barbara Knapik (Chairwoman of the Municipal Urban Planning and Architectural Commission) ,Michał Sitek (Director of the Department of Architecture and Spatial Planning), Paulina Hebda (Acting Head of the Provincial Office for Historic Preservation in Krakow, Delegation in Tarnów) and Michał Rączka . * Voting lasts until March 23, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. It is allowed to cast only one vote for one work participating in the voting for the Audience Award. The system allows more than one vote from the same IP to allow multiple people from the same network to vote, e.g. academic, architectural studio, etc. The allowed number of votes from one IP is 11. If more votes are cast by one person (by clearing cookies, changing IP locations, browser footprints and sessions, or using bots), it will result in the invalidation of such votes. In order to check the correctness of the voting mechanism, each work received one control vote from the A&B Editorial Board.

NOTE: The system counts all votes. After the voting is completed, all votes for each work will be checked for violations of the rules and invalidated if they violated these rules. The correct number of votes cast will be made public after checking the server logs when the voting results are published.
