The design of the Center for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy illustrates the multifaceted design process, the adaptation of historical matter. The work considers the multifaceted problem of conservation activities undertaken at objects located in small towns and presents the need for revaluation of the ruins of the castle in Bodzentyn.

The presented issues are aimed at making the cultural heritage value of the ruin visible and restoring the functional significance of the object with the conscious introduction of a new structure while respecting the original compositional assumptions. The project assumes minimal interference with the historic structure while highlighting its historical, cultural and aesthetic value, in the context of the entire establishment.

The idea of the project assumes a holistic approach to shaping the architectural structure, and the direction of design activities is based on the characteristics of architecture according to Vitruvius. The concept envisages a joint dialogue between the three Vitruvian principles and the therapy process of the center's patient, which is directly influenced by the final form and spatial factors. The monument, which is also the fundamental, in the initial sense, skeleton for the newly designed volume, besides its historical and emotional value, presents a high aesthetic value through the diversity of its form and texture.

The project seeks to create a psychoanalytic psychotherapy care center in the form of a solitary room, which aims to relate to the viewer through the architectural means of expression used. The main idea of the new structure being introduced is to create a neutral background for the historical structure, where spiritual, historical and moral values escalate with the process of controlled degradation of form.

The designed stone layout of the facade, based on the mathematical division of the outer and inner planes through offsetting relative to the openings, seemingly closes the center to the external environment and makes the aesthetic value of the project apparent. By respecting the existing fabric and identifying the future user of the premise, it was possible to create a complete project, where the character of the place and selected architectural treatments enhance its value in perception, dynamically and holistically fitting into the existing composition without the effect of overwhelming and aggressive domination. The introduced architectural value was based on the principles of strict minimalism complemented by classical rationalism of form, thanks to which the mass presents the characteristics of a timeless structure, assuming the presentation of qualitative aesthetic value at further stages of the object's operation.

The design leaves freedom of interpretation and analysis. The structure assumes interference in the process of psychotherapy, subtly complementing and supporting it by emotionally cleansing the patient and directing the way of analytical understanding of space created through the resulting structure.
