LAX laboratory for architectural experiments

LAX is a design studio dedicated to architecture, urban planning, urban sculpture and the design of interactive environments. Its scope also includes research and design consulting.

LAX studio was founded in 2014 by two architects from Wroclaw: Anna Grajper and Sebastian Dobiesz. LAX's track record includes a number of awards and prizes received for projects on architecture, urban planning and public spaces in Poland and abroad - one of them is the completed project Bulwar Fizyków - Zwierciadła Akustyczne, which is located in the center of Wroclaw on Prof. Zwierzycki Boulevard. A significant success of the LAX studio is also winning the International Playable City Award, which resulted in the realization of the Urbanimals interactive installation in the public spaces of Bristol, UK. In addition, LAX studio for its realizations and research on Interactive Architecture has been awarded an honorary 30 Creative Award by the mayor of Wroclaw, as well as recognized with the Supervision Award for avant-garde young architects granted by the Association of Polish Architects.

As part of her research and consulting work at LAX, she specializes in the implementation of new interactive technologies in the architectural and urban fabric. He collaborates with creative and academic centers such as Watershed Ltd., Bartlett School of Architecture UCL London, Wroclaw University of Technology, SARP or the Institute for Public Space Research in Warsaw, popularizing interactive architecture and seeking innovative design solutions for it.

When creating projects, it is very important to LAX that they contribute to real placemaking in the city. The architects want them to leave a clear imprint on the mental map of the city among its residents and all visitors. Therefore, it is important to them to evoke emotions in the viewers, which they try to do by giving a magical character to their realizations. Their motto is to create magic in architecture.
