Łódź is still full of undeveloped post-factory buildings waiting for a new life. One of them is Scheibler's Farmstead, whose renovation was designed by Kacper Mucha of {tag:University}. His work won first prize in the Lodz stage of the 2025 Diploma of the Year competition organized by SARP. The work was done under the direction of Dr. Renata Przewłocka-Sionek.
Kacper Mucha's project involves the adaptation of the Scheibler Manor in Lodz, a forgotten part of the factory owner's legacy, far from the well-known Księży Młyn.

Lodz's post-factory heritage
However, the farmstead was as much an indispensable part of Scheibler' s Spinning Mill as other buildings that have already been adapted to the modern needs of Lodz residents. Its former function was to supply food and groceries.
In Kacper Mucha's study, the Folwark became a city, performing new public functions, primarily cultural services intended for any social or age group.

In the study, the former granary, barn and servants' outbuilding were transformed into a boatbuilding museum. In turn, the upper floors of the outbuilding housed a guesthouse.
The former steward's house was earmarked in the design for the Wojtowski Mill Museum. It was further expanded with a form referring to the no longer existing mill, which remained only in the form of an archeological outcrop.
The dairy was turned into a catering area and the engine house into a walking pavilion. The cells, meanwhile, became garages for employees or boarders.
Eventually, after adaptation to new functions, the buildings of the boatbuilding museum and those devoted to the catering zone were connected by a new communication fabric.

The design also includes a complement of buildings that work together with the main function. This space will be devoted to socio-physical services. The addition constrasts in color with the brick facades of the historic buildings and the surrounding greenery. It will house the Rowing and Canoeing Club, as well as a workshop.
The new elements have been kept in a uniform style. Their facades are dominated by white-printed glass facades and white-coated roofs. Glass and wood materials are also repeated in them. Instead of the standard anthracite steel frames, wooden ones predominate in the design.

The author was keen to make the facility accessible to the residents of Lodz, who enjoy the neighboring park. Therefore, the area around the designed buildings remained open for public access. The small architecture designed in the area was unified. In the area of the study, the author also proposed to create walls marking the direction of the gaze towards the buildings and greenery.
