Through July 12, the Institute of Creative Industries in Warsaw is hosting the “Graduation Show 12” exhibition, which showcases the graduation projects of graduates from the School of Form at SWPS University. This is the first public presentation of works by young designers who, in their graduation projects, address contemporary social, technological, and climate challenges.
Design as a Response to Contemporary Challenges
The exhibition demonstrates that contemporary design is increasingly moving beyond aesthetics to become a tool for solving real-world problems. The designers analyzed users’ everyday needs, conducting research and experiments that enabled them to develop solutions addressing challenges related to the functioning of society, climate change, and technological development.
As Jola Starzak, coordinator of the design program, emphasizes, the exhibition is an encounter with diverse design narratives based on research, observation, and experimentation. The presented works explore themes of emotion, interpersonal relationships, the body, technology, and social responsibility, showcasing design as a tool for understanding and transforming reality.

Diversity of Themes and Forms
The exhibition features projects of a highly diverse nature. Visitors can see functional objects, tools, games, films, systems, services, multisensory experiences, and fashion collections. Such a broad range of projects demonstrates how contemporary design brings together various fields and working methods.
The creators address topics related to inclusivity, communication, the impact of new technologies, and surveillance systems, as well as the reinterpretation of craftsmanship, folk culture, and tradition. Each project offers a unique response to a specific issue, while also contributing to a broader discussion about the role of design in the contemporary world.
