EPDM Sealeco - advanced waterproofing technology

19 of April '24

From the series "Roofs, roof accessories"

As the largest manufacturer of EPDM flexible membranes in Europe,SealEco offers access to extensive waterproofing expertise based on more than 50 years of practical experience. The Sealeco Group's headquarters and EPDM membrane production facility is located in Värnamo, Sweden. In addition, Sealeco's subsidiaries operate in several European countries: Belgium, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and Poland. In Poland, the company was known as Trelleborg Industries Polska since 1994, while since 2011, following ownership changes, it has continued to operate as Nordic Waterproofing Sp. z o.o., which is part of Sealeco .

SealEco EPDM membranes are laid as single-layer waterproofing. The most important features of EPDM membranes are their flexibility and stretchability of more than 300%, total UV and ozone resistance, and a very wide range of application temperatures, from -35˚C to 130˚C. They can therefore be laid and left as a layer exposed to outdoor conditions. The confirmed durability of this material is a minimum of 50 years. It fits almost any substrate, is resistant to mechanical and chemical damage, and performs well in all climatic conditions. EPDM membranes do not require any servicing and maintenance, remain permanently flexible and are resistant to harmful external factors. They can be mechanically fixed, glued or ballasted, an important advantage is that they can be laid at low temperatures. In Sealeco technology, the joining of membrane elements is carried out by hot vulcanization, with the possibility of prefabricating to individual size flat and spatial shapes, to be laid out on site.

Our offer includes sealing solutions for flat roofs, terraces, tanks and facades. Flat roofs are divided into exposed, that is, where the waterproofing membrane is the last and exposed layer of the roof (photo 1), and ballasted, more commonly called terraces, where the waterproofing is hidden under the finishing (ballast) layer (photo 2). Terraces can be finished (ballasted) with, for example, gravel, pavers, exotic wood, greenery or others, depending on the needs and imagination of the investor. For this type of project, we offer EPDM Prelasti/Prelasti Fleece membranes and provide system solutions for cross-sections and details, taking into account such requirements as proper waterproofing, thermal insulation, drainage, rainwater drainage, payloads, functioning of greenery.

As waterproofing in ground tanks, ponds, ponds and other geotechnical structures, we propose Elastoseal EPDM membrane (photo 3). The membrane is characterized by, among other things, resistance to root overgrowth.

Due to high technical parameters in a wide range of temperatures and while maintaining flexibility, EPDM membranes can be used in very difficult conditions: including unstable ground, under a high water table, in low and high temperatures. Therefore, they can also be used in unusual and very demanding projects such as large spatial pots. An example of such an implementation is the sealing of the pots of the Afrykarium in Wroclaw (Photo 4) in 2014. This project took advantage of the strengths of SealEco EPDM membranes, such as the ability to come into contact with potable water, resistance to root overgrowth and expected long-term durability.

For each realization, we try to deliver the membrane to the construction site in the form of a prefabricated product or prefabricated products, prepared in the required dimensions on our production hall. These are laid out on site, which significantly reduces installation time. The prefabricated parts must be joined together and any necessary detailing of the roof or water tank must be done. The quality of the welds made by us (hot vulcanization) ensures 100% waterproofing of the membrane.

As part of the insulation of building facades, we supply EPDM membranes of the Cladseal system with appropriately selected vapor permeability. They come in the form of tapes of various widths and thicknesses, used to seal woodwork installed in external walls against air penetration and water penetration.
