Digital art deserves such a futuristic exhibition building, as designed by Jan Zawadzki of Wydział Architektury Politechniki Warszawskiej. As part of his master's thesis created under the supervision of Dr. Krystian Kwiecinski and Prof. Jan Słyk, he created a concept for a Digital Art Gallery in Praga Południe.
The gallery project was located at the intersection of Minska, Stanislawowska and Terespolska Streets in the Kamionek residential area in Warsaw.

a dynamic block in a dynamic neighborhood
The author decided to integrate the new project into the dynamically developing southern part of the district, where new housing estates and cultural centers are being built. In the vicinity of the selected plot are facilities such as Sinfonia Varsovia, the former "Orzeł" Sports Club Hall, as well as the Praga District Park of the Home Army. A new metro station "Minska" is also planned across the street from the designed building. Access to the proposed facility is also possible by city buses, which stop at a nearby bus stop.

The author explains the creation of the Digital Art Gallery by the need to create a real, physical space for art created on the Internet.
Over time and the evolution of human culture, the art representing it naturally changed. The expression of art depended not only on the civilization, community or place that created it, but also on the tools available. At the beginning of the second half of the twentieth century, a breakthrough occurred, and for the first time an image of aesthetic value was made not by man, but by a machine. Digital tools began to become more common, currently they are the main medium of expression. Slowly, an episode is beginning where an image is not only produced by a machine, but also planned by it from the beginning. Artificial Intelligence appears on the scene
- tells Jan Zawadzki.

The mass of the designed object was created by extending the available contour of the plot upward. At the point of greatest visibility from the surroundings, which is the spatial dominant, a cubic cut in the mass was created. The result was an urban square surrounded by walls, which can serve as an agora or audience for exhibitions or installations.
A physical space for elusive art
From the square, visitors can enter the building's foyer, and from there enter the exhibition area. Provision is also made for rooms to serve as spaces for workshops.

Due to the nature of the art to be presented in the designed building, the author planned a dedicated interactive installation. It allows the building to adapt to changing technologies and the needs of the artists exhibiting in it.

Jan Zawadzki also proposed an innovative way to mount the installation's substructure using a system inspired by a chained door latch.

The green area around the designed gallery is also an important part of Jan Zawadzki's work. He planned additional tree plantings on it and respected the existing retention basins, the so-called "urban wetlands." The roof of the building is also covered with vegetation, and in the western part also with solar panels.

Jan Zawadzki's project could be a visually fascinating cultural center in Kamionek and become another iconic example of modern architecture in Warsaw.
