about the anniversary edition of the competition
This year's 20th edition of the Architecture Student Contest had a special anniversary character. It was held in France - in the Nord-Isère region, in the immediate vicinity of Lyon. This is not a coincidence - it is the birthplace of the Saint-Gobain Group, which celebrates its 360th anniversary in 2025.
More than 200 universities from 33 countries participated in the competition. Students were tasked with designing two buildings:
-
a new residential building for students and faculty in the Les Grands Ateliers neighborhood,
-
the revitalization of an abandoned school in the village of Chimilin - to be used as a social center for local initiatives.
All projects had to meet exacting sustainability criteria - from CO₂ emissions and energy efficiency to impact on the local community and user/user comfort.
