Student idea for a pier and restaurant on Lake Czorsztyńskie

02 of June '22

{tag:studenci}, a graduate of the engineering degree program in architecture at the Podhale State Vocational University in New Targ, proposed as part of her thesis a catering point and pier that could be built in Niedzica on Lake Czorsztyńskie. The proposal called MOLOlia, the author says, is an attempt to revitalize the area by creating a new tourist spot.

The conceptual design of the catering facility and pier on the Czorsztyn Reservoir is an engineering work done under the direction of Prof. Marek Kowicki.

new tourist destination

The author focused on creating a new meeting point for tourists. As she says, designing such an object was not a simple task, as there were questions about how to blend into the surroundings and how to develop the site in such a way that it would form a coherent whole with the area. Moreover, she says, she tried not to create competition with the nautra - the slopes of the Pieniny Mountains reflected in the lake's depths, the forests and the two castles in Czorsztyn and Niedzica.

Development of the hitherto neglected waterfront area would greatly improve the aesthetic appearance of the place and make it visited not only by vacationers, but also by locals. The new building, located on the very shore of the lake, will not stand out from its surroundings, but will relate to them, explains Paulina Lukasz.

lakeside restaurant

The PPUZ graduate from Nowy Targ decided to combine natural materials - stone and wood - with modern technology, trying to blend the designed building into the surroundings. According to her, the project is designed for increased tourist traffic, and the restaurant will encourage numerous visitors. The catering building (restaurant and cafe), with its large glazing located on three sides, provides a panoramic view and promotes pleasant spending time inside.

The lump of the building refers to the character of the region's buildings. Its shape is a sloping rectangle with a chamfered top to one side and an overhanging rectangle to the top. This creates an interesting form that gives character to the place," says the author.

The interior of the building was designed with functionality and aesthetics in mind. Its main material is wood, which, combined with vegetation and delicate anthracite accessories, creates a cozy atmosphere.

pier and viewing tower

In the development area, the designer also proposed a pier and footbridges creating a new pedestrian route and meeting places. Another proposal is an orderly greenery, a mini park with benches and a place for deck chairs. Meanwhile, the observation tower, from which the entire area can be viewed, is a landmark and compositional dominant of the entire project. Autroka believes that the introduction of a large parking lot will minimize the problem that Niedzica is currently facing - that is, excessive parking in places not intended for it.

The whole project was created with the idea of developing the waterfront area and at least part of the lake. I believe that due to the size of Lake Czorsztyńskie, there should be many more attractions in its vicinity, and on the water surface itself, of course those that will not negatively affect nature. My proposal creates an area that is currently lacking here. The vicinity of existing bicycle paths, water-crossing attractions and the scenery of historic castles will influence the popularity of the establishment and make it an important point on the tourist map of Poland," concludes Paulina Lukasz.
