Polonia Stadium will be built under the public-private partnership formula

Warsaw will spend 114 million zlotys on the construction of a new downtown sports center. The modernized Polonia complex will be realized on the basis of a 2019 competition design by JSK Architekci. The investment will be carried out under a public-private partnership.

Located at 6 Konwiktorska St. in Warsaw, the Polonia sports complex after reconstruction will consist of a sports hall, stands for more than 15,000 fans and a Sports Support Center. The project also includes a new city square with a fountain and food and beverage establishments. Warsaw will allocate more than PLN 100 million for the investment. The construction of the new complex is to be the city government's response to the needs of the community that today uses the Polonia Center. The planned changes were consulted with representatives of the football clubs Polonia Warszawa and MKS Polonia Warszawa, the basketball club SKK Polonia and representatives of fans.

- The Polonia Center is an important part of Warsaw's sports, and I believe it is also part of its beautiful sports future. Polonia is also a place in the very center of the city, to which we want to give new life, create favorable conditions for athletes and a friendly place for residents.

two years after the competition

The project to be implemented won the architectural competition announced in 2019. The authors of the winning work are the JSK Architekci team , responsible for the design of the National Stadium , among others. In addition to the modernization and expansion of the stadium itself, two new buildings will be constructed on the site between the stadium and Bonifraterska Street. A sports hall for about 1,200 spectators, where basketball games will be played, and a Sports Support Center with additional sports areas. There will be parking for about 775 cars under the buildings and the historic plaza.

Negotiations with architects are now beginning. The city plans that construction will begin in 2023. Before that, City Hall intends to attract an investor. The city has conducted market tests, which have shown interest in such an investment. The private partner will be responsible for the construction of the complex, followed by technical maintenance.
