The "Vitis Vitae" project by Natalia Duszkiewicz of the Faculty of Architecture at the Cracow University of Technology was created under the direction of Piotr Winskowski, Ph.D. It is a proposal for a wine and oenotourism center that not only celebrates wine culture, but also redefines the relationship between architecture and landscape.

wine as an inspiration for architecture
"Vitis Vitae" - Latin for vine of life - is a project in which every line and detail carries meaning. The architect treated the process of maturing wine as a metaphor for life itself - with its rhythm, patience and harmony. The winery here becomes not only a place of production, but also a space for the meeting of man with nature and culture.
The premise has been set in an undulating agricultural landscape, where the rhythm of the vines determines the dynamics of the urban composition. The buildings do not dominate the surroundings - they are its natural extension. Instead of competing with nature, the architecture allows it to speak its own language.

space of experience, not display
The centerpiece of the project is the wine cellar, which guides visitors through the stages of experience - from production and education to tasting and contemplation. The underground section houses the wine maturation cellars, cool and austere, built of stone. Higher up are workshop rooms, a restaurant and tasting terraces, opening wide to the vineyards.

Cichocka stresses that the project was intended to create a "road experience" in which the architecture works on all the senses. Light, the smell of wood, the touch of stone - these are the elements that build the atmosphere. The user here is not a spectator, but a participant: he immerses himself in the space, just like in wine - slowly, with thought, discovering successive notes.
between tradition and modernity
In "Vitis Vitae" tradition does not mean literal imitation, but reinterpretation. Materials - stone, wood, glass - were chosen to create a dialogue between the past and the present. The stone base roots the building in the ground, the wood warms and rhythms the facades, and the glass opens the interiors to the landscape.

Ecological solutions play an important role: rainwater recovery systems, green roofs and photovoltaic panels. Thanks to them, architecture not only draws from nature, but also gives back to it what it has taken.
architecture of emotion and balance
"Vitis Vitae" is a project that - like a good wine - matures over time. Every element of it has a meaning: from the road leading through the vineyard, to the light seeping through the translucent facades. It is a reflective, emotional and balanced architecture, in which beauty is not the result of decoration, but the consequence of thought.

Natalia Duszkiewicz's project shows that the young generation of architects can create spaces with deep meaning. "Vitis Vitae" is not just a place for wine lovers - it is a manifesto for living in harmony with nature and a reminder that good architecture, like wine, needs time to fully mature.
