Can social housing become the answer to today's housing challenges? This is the question that {tag:studenci}, author of the project "t.bs - tu. close to one's own", created at the Faculty of Architecture at Wroclaw University of Technology, is trying to answer. Her concept is not only a proposal for a new residential development, but above all a manifesto of the idea of community, localism and socially sensitive design.

the idea of "here. close to your own"
Rising housing prices, the limited availability of land and the disappearance of neighborly ties are causing more and more talk in Poland about the need to return to social housing. However, for Martyna Chudalewska, the project was not meant to be just a technical or economic solution. It became an attempt to answer the question of how architecture can shape social relations and influence the quality of residents' daily lives.

The project involves the creation of a neighborhood that fosters relationship-building. The very name - "t.bs - here. close to one's own " - emphasizes that the most important thing is proximity: to family, neighbors, local community.
Unlike typical real estate development estates, where anonymity and tightness are the order of the day, here the architecture opens up to residents and nature, and common spaces play a key role.
urban structure and architectural form
The residential complex is designed as a modular but diverse structure. Instead of monotonous blocks of flats, a varied mid-scale development is being created - closer to a person than a corporate skyscraper. The buildings are arranged to create semi-private courtyards, plazas and community gardens that become natural gathering places.

Material-wise, the project refers to contemporary ecological standards. Natural wood, greenery and recycled materials create a friendly, neutral living environment while emphasizing the sustainability of the development.
The social dimension of architecture
The role of common spaces is particularly important in Chudalewska's design. Rather than isolating residents, the space was designed to facilitate interaction.
The buildings provide meeting rooms, studios and service spaces that can be used by both residents and the local community. In this way, the estate becomes a living organism - a place for interaction, not just a bedroom community of the city.

education and social responsibility
Martyna Chudalewska's diploma project is also a voice in the discussion about the future of Polish housing. The author shows that social architecture can be ambitious and qualitative, without being reduced to the cheapest solutions.
"t.bs - tu. close to your own" is a proposal on how to build accessible housing that simultaneously integrates, teaches cooperation and responds to contemporary social crises.

"t.bs - tu. blisko swoich" was created as Martyna Chudalewska's graduation project under the supervision of Dr. Eng. arch. Piotr Fokczynski at the Faculty of Architecture of the Wroclaw University of Technology. It is an example of a work that not only meets academic requirements, but also provides a real voice in the public debate on housing.
