"Best Interior Diploma".
The main design guidelines for the facility of the Social Activation Center on the Kaliny Estate in Szczecin concerned issues combining urban planning, architecture and interior design. These slogans address the same issue, that is, the creation of space suited to use. They differ only in the scale of the assumptions.

The proposed urban planning solutions concerned the location of the site on the map and a new landscaping plan, which would include the design of landscaped greenery, urban furniture, as well as a playground and outdoor gyms. The site was designed in the form of an elongated block, consisting of four elements. Two cuboids connected by a connector, which differ in height. The building is located on an axis between two multi-family buildings. A community garden was designed on the south side. A space with such a function provides an opportunity to integrate and build social ties. The neighborhood garden can be used to grow plants or create an urban meadow. In addition, it can promote ecological actions and social activities.

Architectural solutions assumed the creation of an object of human-friendly scale, the use of renewable energy sources, reference to the environment, adaptation of the functional layout and zones of use to the needs of residents. The architecture of the building was designed to create the most friendly environment for different age groups of users while allowing them to use the space according to their needs. An important aspect in the design was the thought of inclusiveness. The building and the function it is intended to serve should be accessible and responsive to the needs of all regardless of gender, age or ability. An inclusive space is one that is accessible and provides opportunities for use, to any person from any social group. This has been taken into account in the building's accessibility by, among other things, the elimination of architectural barriers or an appropriately selected palette of colors and finishing materials. The functional program of the facility also provides a variety of available event scenarios thus giving freedom of use.

The designed object is a simple, two-story block with a varied height reaching 9.90 meters. It differs in height from existing multifamily buildings. It is characterized by a large amount of glazing, which makes it more open. The simple body of the building was covered by a roof whose geometry refers to those in the immediate vicinity. The flat roof has been enhanced with extensive greenery, so that it also serves as a terrace. The designed facility consists of a catering service, a community kitchen, a computer room and a workshop room, as well as the necessary ancillary rooms. The designed workshop room, with a total area of 180 sqm, is a space that can be tailored to meet specific user needs. The connector, which can become an exhibition space, can be used to access the second part of the facility, which is equipped with the necessary hygiene and sanitary area, as well as an exercise room, terrace and mediatheque. Its functional layout allows you to use it in many ways, and the equipment does not limit, gives you the opportunity, provides convenience and comfort in use.

Solutions for the selection of appropriate colors and the use of finishing materials, furniture and proper lighting are issues that are responsible for the assumptions and role of interior design in the project.

The Social Activation Center, a facility with a social service function of a supra-local nature, is a response to the needs of the residents of the Kaliny Estate in Szczecin. Appropriately designed, it can improve the quality of leisure activities, give a chance for activities that have so far been hardly available to the surrounding community. The center gives a real chance to help build social ties. This one is counted among some of the basic psychological needs of humans.
