Shared common rooms, a carpentry workshop and even screenings in a private cinema room? This is the vision of an ideal neighborhood according to Anna Cukrowska, author of the Oaza Waliszew project, created under the direction of Dr. Piotr Trębacz at {tag:University}.
Anna Cukrowska's project is a response to the crisis on many levels - both climate change and social tensions. As the author states, in the face of these, we need new architectural solutions. Hence her proposal for housing that provides stability and readiness for the coming future, while maintaining as neutral an impact on the environment as possible.

Oasis Wieliszew is also an attempt to draw attention to the problem of disproportion between residential zones and adjacent green areas in many modern settlements. The author was keen to create a place of residence that is integrated with forest and lake areas, as well as to design a careful infrastructure of intra-quarter spaces to encourage residents to spend time actively outdoors.

The estate was located near the new Wieliszew train station, near Zegrzyńskie Lake north of Warsaw. It is part of a larger urban development, based on a quarter development with public spaces and a school.
Anna Cukrowska's design includes two caged buildings and two point buildings. The buildings are based on CLT laminated timber construction. According to the design, the facade, made of oak panels, is densely covered with vertical vegetation rooted in pots included in the balconies. Limited parking spaces were distributed in garages at the first floor level so as not to interfere with the environment due to local soil conditions.

A total of 54 apartments of various configurations are planned for the complex: M2 with an area of 36 sqm, M3 with an area of 52 sqm or 77 sqm, and M5 with versions of 100 or 112 sqm.
neighborhood events and common spaces
In addition to the living area, the project also includes a coworking zone, allowing people to work close to home without having to commute to an office. This allows residents not only to save their time, but also to reduce harmful emissions. In the first floors of the buildings, neighborhood spaces have been designed to foster integration, such asan occasional room that can be used for family events. There's also a day care center for children, a workshop for bicycle repair and carpentry tasks, a gym, and a sauna. In addition, residents can use the cinema room and meet for joint screenings.

The Waliszew Oasis proposed by Anna Cukrowska is a fresh alternative to housing developments focused on the individuality of individuals as opposed to the collectivity of neighborhoods, where greenery is often sacrificed for parking spaces. The work took part in the ZAMIESZ competition organized by A&B.
