Modern and symbolic public administration architecture that has never been seen in Lodz before in a project by a Politechnika Łódzka student. The {tag:studenci}, under the supervision of Dr. Eng. arch. Marek Grymin, prof. of the University of Lodz, designed a new District Prosecutor's Office with a futuristic body and a functional but friendly interior.
The subject of the work was the graphic and descriptive design of the District Prosecutor's Office building in downtown Lodz.
Most such buildings are outdated, underinvested and do not meet modern needs. Choosing the subject of the work, I wanted to show that it does not have to be so at all
- says the author.

The creation of the project was preceded by the author's visits to buildings with a similar function in Lodz and nearby Pabianice, in order to learn about the needs and expectations of people working in prosecutors' offices there. They drew attention primarily to the small space for work and storage of documents, the lack of greenery or a place to relax.
An oblong lump with a hidden symbol
The designed building consists of three interconnected blocks with rounded corners. Keeping the mass of the project in a subdued color scheme, limited to white and gray, was intended to give it monumentalism and modernity - as was the glazing of almost the entire perimeter of the building. However, the author took care of the problem of excessive heat gain inside and designed a canopy that reduces exposure to the sun's rays. Its form is meant to refer to the state symbol - the white eagle.

The designed building has more than 8500sqm of usable space. The interior of the building is visually warm, thanks to its wooden finish and rich greenery.
Although the building primarily serves office functions, in addition to offices and secretariats in the south wing, it included spaces such as a restaurant, library and conference room in the north wing. Outside of work, in the designed building one can indulge in relaxation in the orangery or the roof garden. Thus, the District Prosecutor's Office could become a friendly space not only for employees, but also for clients or other residents of Lodz.

modern facility in the developing city center
The designed building is located in the developing city center of Lodz, at the corner of Poznański Family Avenue and Scheibler Family Avenue, in a place well connected with other districts of the city. This provides easy access to the facility for employees and residents. The District Court and many law offices are also nearby.
When designing the state administration building, I tried to show that the stereotypical thinking of monumentalism can be easily combined with modern massing; and traditional symbolism, can be given a new, interesting and expressive form. The whole was balanced with the needs of future users
- adds the author.

With his design, Piotr Pawlowski shows that public buildings do not have to be monotonous and unpleasant. At the same time, he responded to the needs of employees and joined the progressive transformation of the very center of Lodz.
