Trim strips for ETICS "light-wet" building insulation systems

26 of June '23

From the series „Facade and wall materials – trends 2023”

Bella Plast has been a leader in the production of trims and finishing profiles for thermal insulation systems for more than 25 years.

Comprehensive finishing of each edge of the facade

Bella Plast ETICS (External Thermal Insulation Composite System) finishing profiles ensure technically correct termination and bonding of the system layers at the edge, i.e. the area within which all layers of the system: thermal cladding, glass mesh, adhesive and plaster terminate. The profile is designed to securely bond these layers together without the possibility of delamination in the future.

Therefore, it is worth taking care of the proper selection of profiles and thus ensure the durability of the thermal insulation façade and enhance its aesthetic and design qualities.

For the purpose of designing ETICS facades, all our products are available in DWG version.

The basic edges in the thermal insulation façade include: the joint between the plaster and the window frame - here we use expansion joint strips (BP13 series), any elements (shapes) protruding outside the façade such as. Balcony, terrace, oriel, or most commonly: the lower end of the facade over a receding plinth  here we install drip caps (BP14 series), then any corners: around windows, doors, or the corner of the building here we use reinforcing angles (BP10 series) and more specialized profiles: system expansion joint (BP15) or (BP16 angle) at the location of the course of the division of buildings (set on separate footings) or when the horizontal span of the facade exceeds 15 m). And many, many others, including decorative rustication strips (BP11), decorative imitation sheet metal "on the seam" (BP19) or finishing facade strips (BP22) used at the border of the change of plaster grain and/or its color.

The BP13 series of expansion joint skirting boards are available in many standard colors matching the colors of windows commonly found on the market: WHITE, LIGHT GRAY RAL 7000, DARK GRAY RAL 7024, WINCHESTER, GOLDEN OAK RAL 8001, DARK WALNUT RAL 8017, PINE RAL 1002, BLACK, MALT OAK RAL1019.

The connection between the structural plaster and the window frame requires the use of BP13 series expansion joint strips. The strips have a special non-absorbent PE foam tape, which acts as an expansion joint thus eliminating the phenomenon of cracking plaster at the junction with the frame. The foam tape is additionally protected by a longitudinal PVC gasket, which protects it from moisture and dirt. The slats of the BP13 series also have an integrated Saint-Gobain VERTEX glass mesh with a width of 10 cm. The moldings are available in various sizes and several standard colors.

The color of the BP13 series molding should be matched either to the color of the plaster or to the color of the window frame.

The size of the slat should be adjusted to the type (grain size of the structural plaster) slats are dedicated to "lambskin" type of plaster, i.e. fine-grained plaster: BP13 MIDI 3 mm/9 mm, BP13 MINI U 3 mm/6 mm, while for "lambskin" type of plaster, i.e. plaster with high granularity, the BP13 6 mm/9 mm strip should be used.
