Knauf acoustic panels with increased insulation.
From the series "Ceilings and Wall Coverings - Trends 2022".

The creation of an appropriate acoustic climate in designed interiors and the technical conditions that must be met are regulated by the acoustic standard PN-B 02151-3 of 2015. The obligation to apply this standard is imposed by the Regulation of the Minister of Infrastructure, which defines the technical conditions of buildings.

The guidelines contained in the document precisely define the conditions that must be met to ensure maximum acoustic comfort for users of such buildings. Knauf offers system solutions to design acoustic comfort in any type of building. Complemented by two models of acoustic gypsum boards, Knauf Akustik and Knauf Akustik Plus, the range allows you to create solutions that can meet even the most demanding design expectations.

How to create acoustic comfort through noise reduction?

To create acoustic comfort and individual architectural form of the designed space, modern systems are used to ensure the parameters required by the applicable standard in terms of noise, as well as sound absorption. Creating a specific system solution, Knauf brand materials are previously subjected to thorough acoustic tests, carried out in laboratory conditions, as well as in conditions close to natural.

Specialized acoustic boards Knauf Akustik and Knauf Akustik Plus

Knauf Akustik and Knauf Akustik boards are specialized acoustic gypsum boards that redefine the concept of acoustic comfort. Developed in Knauf's laboratories, the board designs reduce noise to the limits perceptible by the human ear. As a result, when used in typical constructions of drywall systems, they make it possible to effectively eliminate or prevent the occurrence of problems with excessive noise, both in residential construction and public buildings. Using Knauf Akustik boards, we can achieve a wall sound insulation of at least 6 dB higher, and Knauf Akustik Plus by 12 dB, assuming their use in the most basic system.

Sound absorption, reverberation reduction
Specialized acoustic boards Knauf Cleaneo

For buildings where the occurrence of reverberation is not desirable, specialized building solutions are used, which are based on materials characterized by their ability to absorb sound waves. The basic parameter that determines the sound-absorbing properties of building materials is the reverberant sound absorption coefficient α, which ranges from 0 to 1. These values determine what percentage of the surface absorbed acoustic energy. A material with α=0 reflects sound at 100%, while α=1 indicates a material that absorbs energy at 100%.

How to create acoustic comfort by reducing reverberation?

To minimize the occurrence of this phenomenon or reduce it in building technology, specialized solutions are used, such as Knauf Cleaneo Akustik boards. Such boards can be used in both wall and ceiling systems. The design of Knauf Cleaneo Akustik panels has different perforation patterns like ordered, scattered, square or circular. The perforation pattern determines the percentage of holes and, consequently, the value of the reverberant sound absorption coefficient. Knauf Cleaneo Akustik panels guarantee the results of this coefficient in maximum values, i.e. from 0.4 to 0.9. The variety of systems makes it possible to make a ceiling with emphasized divisions, visible joints or friezes, as well as with continuous perforation over the entire surface, without divisions or joints.

Knauf Cleaneo Akustik are:

  • perforated gypsum boards with the addition of dehydrated zeolite,
  • various degrees and types of perforation,
  • ideal solutions for reducing reverberation time in large, open spaces,
  • use wherever understanding, speech is important
  • acoustic space shaping material,
  • optimal solution for houses with open plan.
