From the series "Modern office buildings - trends, technologies 2025"
Have you ever wondered what creativity actually is? And is it really reserved only for "creatives"? The truth is that all of us are creative. Whether we design advertising campaigns, create furniture or plan investments. Creativity is primarily the ability to generate new ideas, and from a neurological perspective, it involves two key types of thinking.
The first is divergent thinking, responsible for the explosion of inspiration. It is activated when we are relaxed, when the brain feels safe and has a moment of rest. The second, convergent thinking, organizes the ideas generated and turns them into concrete actions. This cycle is the foundation of not only creative work, but virtually any design or conceptual work.

Functioning in the office is similar. Each of us knows the moment when traditional patterns stop working. However, all it takes is a change of environment, a short walk around the office, a conversation with a co-worker, a cup of coffee for the brain to enter free idea generation mode. This is when those "non-obvious" breakthrough solutions appear.

It's worth thinking about creativity especially consciously today, because we live in times where the only certainty is... change. It's driven by new technologies and artificial intelligence that permeate every area of our work. We are learning them in real time; no one yet has full knowledge of their potential. But one thing we know for sure: the role of the office as a place for collaboration, relationships and energy exchange remains crucial. Pandemic has shown that creativity and innovation flatten out during online meetings, and flourish when we work together face to face.

That's why a variety of spaces and job typologies are becoming so important in modern office buildings and workspaces. In addition to space for standard tasks, we also need areas that promote choice and flexibility - such as two types of office chairs(upholstered and mesh) that respond to different user preferences. Choice is one of the most important factors for comfort and creativity at work.

According to the World Economic Forum 'sFuture of Jobs Report 2023, creativity is one of the most desirable employee competencies in the market. And since it is so valuable, it is worth fostering it with the right space design. The key word here is diversification: places for focused work, small talk zones, brainstorming spaces, rooms for short video chats, collaboration areas, conference rooms, canteens, lobbies or modular informal zones. All of these together create an environment that supports the natural rhythm of creative thinking.
