GEALAN-acrylcolor® from Framex

27 of May '25

from the series "Windows, doors, hardware, guards - trends, technologies 2025"

GEALAN-acrylcolor®. This name sounds like the title of an album by a German synth-pop band from the 1980s, but behind it lies a technology that is increasingly making its presence felt in the world of modern architecture. An acrylic coating permanently bonded to the PVC profile, resistant to scratching, fading and extreme weather conditions, is opening up new possibilities in building design. We talk to Magdalena Golawska, owner of Framex, about new technologies, artificial intelligence and how joinery is changing its face.

New pace of change

New technologies spiced up with artificial intelligence are redefining design and manufacturing processes. Architecture is responding to new social and environmental needs. Politics and the economy - also full of unpredictability. Amid this dynamic landscape, is the seemingly stable window woodwork industry also undergoing a structural transformation?

Definitely yes. Not only the product, but the whole approach to the customer, quality, communication is changing. The window is no longer a background element. It has become part of the language the architect uses to talk about function, style and values. Today the window profile is not just a technique - it is an aesthetic manifesto.

- Magdalena Golawska says.

A family business from the 1990s.

Framex is a company with a history rooted in the changes of the 1990s. Its origins date back to a time when many family businesses were created out of a need to respond to rapidly changing economic realities.

My father was a locksmith and manufacturer of vices for the mining industry. He lost his contract overnight, but he didn't lose his determination. He was left with a warehouse full of steel and the question: what next? He started by supplying steel to window manufacturers. Soon after, in 1991, he built his own machinery. He designed some of the equipment himself.

- Goławska recalls.

From the beginning, quality and relativity were paramount.

The first windows were created for the family home. It was not a plan for a business, but a solution to a specific problem. But from this need the idea of the company was born.

Today Framex is a company with more than 30 years of history, which combines craftsman DNA with modern technologies and a digital approach to customer service.

Digital product DNA

Thanks to automation, we know what window we are going to the customer with, what happened to it and how best to solve the problem. It's a digital relationship based on data. And data is a huge asset today.

- Goławska says.

Framex is a company that doesn't just manufacture and install windows - it manages them. Literally. Each product is equipped with a unique identifier that allows the customer to access the digital history of the window - from production to service to current status.

Our "My Windows" platform has been in operation for seven years. The customer scans the QR code and sees everything: installation date, inspections, request history. And we, as a service, know what we are dealing with before we cross the threshold

- explains the owner.

This solution works especially well in development projects, where users often do not have access to the original documentation. With this system, the window becomes part of a larger ecosystem - not only physical, but also informational.

We are not just selling a product. We sell predictability, care and partnership. That's what sets us apart. And it builds trust

- emphasizes Golawska.

GEALAN-acrylcolor® - the advantages of PVC and the aesthetics of aluminum

At the center of Framex's strategy is GEALAN-acrylcolor® technology - a solution that combines the advantages of PVC and the aesthetics of aluminum. The innovative technology of combining the PVC profile with colored acrylic glass (PMMA) provides window joinery with a unique surface that is characterized by unique durability, resistance to external conditions and high aesthetics. The color becomes an integral part of the profile - it does not peel, does not fade, does not require maintenance. As a result, windows with GEALAN-acrylcolor® surfaces retain their visual freshness even after many years. For architects, this means material consistency over time - regardless of the building's exposure.

People look at our windows and ask: "But I guess that's aluminum?" And I say, "No. It's PVC. In acrylic." Acrylic not only looks beautiful, but also ages perfectly. And that's a key value today.

- Says Golawska with a smile.

Importantly, GEALAN-acrylcolor® offers high weather resistance without the need for maintenance, which is of great importance in projects where architectural detailing is expected to last for decades without sacrificing aesthetics. This is the same material that has been used for years in car lamps, among other applications.

The aesthetics of modern architecture

Framex's new product line - which uses profiles with angular shapes and matte finishes - fits perfectly with the aesthetics of modern residential architecture. Minimalist facades of concrete, brick, wood or stone increasingly require details that do not dominate, but harmonize with the whole.

In a world where form must harmonize with function, a window cannot be an accident. It must be a consequence of the architectural concept. We work with architects already at the design stage - we propose technical solutions that will not disturb the aesthetics, but meet the functional requirements.

- Goławska says.

Increasingly, investors are looking for profiles in the colors of precious metals - from anthracite and black, through matte gold to copper. Color hybrids - the warmth of gold with the coolness of anthracite - are nowadays part of the expressive trend for interiors and facades.

With space and people in mind

All this would not be possible without personal commitment.

This is not just a company. This is the story of my family. I believe that if we do something well, honestly and with people in mind, this quality will defend itself.

- Says the owner of Framex.

Architecture abhors makeshift. A well-designed detail should not only fulfill its function, but also last - aesthetically, technically, consistently. Today its form must harmonize with the facade and interior. Minimalist facade designs require windows that do not "scream", but are a thoughtful continuation of the style.

More and more often we work with architects already at the design stage. We verify the assumptions, propose technical solutions that will not disturb the aesthetics. Thanks to our digital solutions, we can also present the client with an individualized offer: with visualization, choice of finishing, color variants

- Magda Golawska emphasizes.
