Four gray concrete monoliths against the backdrop of the distinctive landscape of the Krakow-Czestochowa Jurassic Highland is a new project by GÓRNIK Architects. The building, sparing in details, refers to scattered stones that have been shaped and adapted for residential use.

The buildings, with traditional gabled roofs in the color of architectural concrete walls, have an open truss. Saving details and a roof membrane in the color of the facade tie the planes together into one solid block. Their interiors, with different functions, can be freely shaped. They will be transformed according to the needs and inspiration of the owners.

Dobrawa Bies: What was the main inspiration for the project, what is the shape of the block derived from?

GÓRNIK Architekci: The project was inspired by the surroundings, that is, the landscape of Jura Krakowsko-Częstochowska. The idea of the project refers to the stones scattered on the Jura, which were formed by man and adopted for residential purposes.

Dobrawa Bies: What was your priority in this project?

GÓRNIK Architects: The priority was to create original architecture in the context of the natural surroundings of Jura. The buildings created an urban layout, carved out perspectives and, in our opinion, used the maximum potential of the plot.

Dobrawa Bies: What were the expectations of the investors?

GÓRNIK Architekci: The investors wanted a specific functional layout. We adjusted the location of the buildings to take advantage of the scenic qualities, the shape and winds and sunlight of the plot.

Dobrawa Bies: What caused the greatest design difficulties, and what are you most satisfied with?

GÓRNIK Architects: The key challenge was to find a construction technology that would achieve the visual effect of concrete blocks wall to roof. We also faced the terrain, in this case its significant slope. The hardships of the project were rewarded by our satisfaction with the achieved effect, original and original solids, urban layout and good words from the investor following the fulfillment of his expectations.
