Fire that protects. Fire-tempered wood in modern architecture

Wood, fire and the tradition of Shou Sugi Ban

At Degmeda, we shape facades using the ancient Japanese art of Shou Sugi Ban. A technique of charring wood that combines the artistry of ancient masters with modern technology. The result? Facades that are not only pleasing to the eye, but also durable, resisting time. Shou Sugi Ban is a process that requires precision and tremendous flair to make the wood acquire that one-of-a-kind texture and structure.

This is where tradition meets modernity

In the Shou Sugi Ban process, quality and precision are paramount - that's why we constantly invest in modern equipment and software, so that our products reach the highest level of workmanship. Using modern technology, we preserve the essence of Japanese craftsmanship, where quality and durability always come first. Each piece of wood goes through a detailed inspection process, and our advanced software allows us to predict and optimize its behavior for years to come, creating wood that will last for generations.

Ecology without compromise

We are convinced that beauty and durability can go hand in hand with concern for the environment. Shou Sugi Ban, through a charring process, allows wood to naturally protect itself from moisture, fungi, insects and the sun - without the use of chemicals. Such material is fully ecological, and its structure remains stable for decades. Our wood is safe for the environment and for users, making it an ideal choice for conscious investors. Fired, or rather charred, planks from Degmed are a material that fits perfectly with the idea of sustainable construction and nature conservation.
