The facade is one of the key elements of any building. It performs not only an aesthetic function, but also a protective one. In recent years, composite facades have become increasingly popular, which are distinguished by their durability, modern appearance and wide range of designs. What exactly is a composite facade, what advantages and disadvantages does it have, and how does it compare with other facade materials? We give you a hint!

What are composite facades?

Composite board facades are a modern solution that combines durability with the aesthetics of wood. Composite boards are made from a mixture of wood and plastics. The most common composition is:

  • Wood flour (40-60%) - gives a natural look and texture of wood.
  • Polymers (PVC, PE, PP - 30-50%) - provide resistance to moisture, mold and pests.
  • Chemical additives (5-10%) - UV stabilizers, dyes, anti-fungal agents that increase the durability of the material.

Thanks to this combination, composite boards are more resistant to weathering than natural wood, in addition, they do not require impregnation and are easy to maintain.

Advantages and disadvantages of composite plank elevations

Composite plank elevations are distinguished by a number of advantages. First of all, they are characterized by a modern appearance, high resistance to weather conditions and lack of maintenance. Thanks to the polymers used, they are resistant to mold, pests and moisture. Their installation is relatively simple and fast, which can reduce labor costs. However, it should be remembered that these types of facades also have some disadvantages. Their price is higher than that of classic plaster or siding, and their plastic content makes them difficult to recycle. They can also get hot on hot days, which can affect the comfort of the building.

Installation of a composite facade

Installation of composite boards for the facade is carried out on a special grate, which ensures proper ventilation and durability of the entire structure. The grate can be made of aluminum or wooden profiles, depending on your preferences and the technical conditions of the building. The boards are attached to the grate with a system of mounting clips, which ensure an even surface and proper spacing between the elements. An important step is also to secure the corner zones and edges to prevent the entry of moisture. As a result, the facade maintains an aesthetic appearance and high weather resistance for many years.

Cost of composite board facade

Prices for composite board facades depend on the manufacturer and the quality of the material. On average, it can be assumed that the cost of the material ranges from 150 to 400 PLN/m², while the cost of installation is 100-250 PLN/m².

Composite decking facades vs. alternative materials

When deciding on a building facade, it is worthwhile to analyze the various materials available on the market. Each of them has its own unique characteristics that affect durability, aesthetics and operating costs. Below is a comparison of composite decking with other popular facade materials, such as plaster, natural wood, stone, clinker and HPL.
