Leca® BLOK insulates against noise

The Leca® BLOK System has been in place in Poland for more than 20 years. The system includes hollow blocks and blocks based on expanded clay. The most popular product is the Leca® BLOK 24 hollow block. The product is dedicated to single-family construction. It allows you to make walls with very high vapor permeability, walls that dry very quickly and effectively insulate thermally. In addition, in single-family construction, blocks with a width of 12 cm are also widely used, as well as full foundation blocks that allow the construction of walls in the ground with a width of 24 and 38 cm.

Acoustic interior walls

In the last several years or so, full expanded clay concrete blocks allowing to make walls with high acoustic insulation have also been introduced into the Polish construction market. These products are mainly used in multifamily construction although they are also increasingly finding their way to the construction sites of terraced, semi-detached and single-family buildings. There are several solutions to choose from, allowing to achieve sound insulation R'A1 above 50 dB. These are:

  • Leca® BLOK acoustic block 18g (Rw= 57dB);
  • Leca® BLOK acoustic 24/20 block (Rw 59 dB);
  • Leca® BLOK acoustic block 22KKS ( Rw= 58 dB).

The latter product is designed for erecting walls separating apartments from corridors and stairwells in multi-family housing. The wall made of these blocks meets additional thermal requirements for walls separating apartments from passageways, obtaining U = 0.858 W/(m2K) (required U < 1 W/(m2K)).

Leca® BLOK acoustic block 22KKS is a novelty on the market. It allows you to make a filling or structural wall with a width of 22 cm. The wall separating apartments from corridors and staircases has a mineral wool insert in its section, which guarantees simultaneous achievement of the required thermal and acoustic insulation. The wall made of these blocks was subjected to additional acoustic testing by installing electrical installation boxes in the wall and making a plumbing approach. And in this case the actual sound insulation was R'w=52 dB.

The block was applied for in the Patent Office of the Republic of Poland under No. P.43661. The application concerns both the product itself and the method of making the wall. The filing was made in order to limit the possibility of uncontrolled counterfeiting of the blocks, and thus protect Investors and Contractors from the consequences of using technically untested products.

All acoustic blocks are used in different types of buildings. Also located near airports, busy arteries, industrial plants. They are great for separating bathrooms from bedrooms or demarcating different living areas, such as a child's room from rooms where elderly people live. They can also be used to build exterior walls for acoustic insulation from noise.

Currently, the products of the Leca® BLOK system are produced and delivered directly to construction sites by dozens of Manufacturers located throughout Poland.

Complementing the Leca® BLOK system is Leca® KERAMZYT, a lightweight aggregate with versatile applications for, among other things: substrates and insulation of floors on the ground, thermal insulation of foundation walls, drainage, construction of green roofs, supporting retention systems and garden work.
