PERVIA - water for nature

03 of August '20

Among a wide range of products, CEMEX offers specialized solutions with unique properties. One of them is PERVIA, an open-textured pavement with the ability to freely and quickly drain rainwater from the surface to deeper layers. How to effectively drain water while taking care of the environment?

PERVIA is an innovative solution that promotes responsible water management, influencing the increase of groundwater resources and maintaining balance in our environment. The less impervious surfaces, the less rainwater rapidly runs off into drains and rivers, so that resources essential to nature's functioning are not lost. In addition, PERVIA's permeable pavement protects against rapid river flows after heavy rainfall and after spring melt. It contributes to reducing the effects of flooding, which occurs during the spring and summer periods in Poland.

PERVIA pavements, developed by CEMEX, are an excellent solution that complies with environmental requirements and the main principles of a closed-loop economy. The principle of drainage is simple: water must percolate quickly through the pavement so that it can be absorbed by the soil. Additional benefits of using PERVIA include less surface runoff into storm sewers and water bodies.

For the production of PERVIA pavement, CEMEX uses the best raw materials that meet the high requirements of Polish and European standards. Their quality is constantly monitored by entities and research institutes and additionally verified at the company's ready-mixed concrete plants. In addition, CEMEX concrete plants have implemented a system of Factory Production Control, which has been voluntarily certified by an independent body.

The new PERVIA product line satisfies the construction industry's demand for permeable concrete that can be used for path and sidewalk surfaces and as substructures, such as sports fields, to minimize water runoff. Thanks to its remarkable properties, PERVIA absorbs water and transfers it to deeper soil levels, thus preventing rapid water inflow during heavy rains. This is made possible by a specially designed formulation consisting of a network of interconnected voids that allow water to flow freely.

Whether you need water-permeable concrete for a terrace, want to design decorative garden paths suitable for all weather conditions, or build a bike path, we encourage you to contact our experienced consultants. We will select the right solution for paving that combines strength, durability and concern for the environment and water resources.
