A glass of wine surrounded by picturesque limestone rocks? {tag:studenci} invited a contemporary vineyard that serves not only as a place of production, but also relaxation. She located it in the Krakow Valleys Landscape Park. The master's thesis was prepared under the supervision of Dr. Anna Grabowska at Wydział Architektury Politechniki Warszawskiej.
The author pointed out that nowadays vineyards are increasingly becoming a tourist destination. As a result, they are likely to have functions not only recreational, but also educational, cultural and gastronomic.

oenotourism - a new trend in travel
The author preceded the design stage with a deep analysis of the history of the development of winemaking in Poland and around the world. She drew attention to the growing role of oenotourism, a new form of alternative tourism centered precisely around winemaking. In addition to visiting places of wine making and storage, it also includes tastings and educational aspects.

Enotourism is associated with an interest in ecology and nature, and attracts people who want a break from the hustle and bustle of the city. Although it is the most popular trend in countries such as France, Italy and Spain, the wine market in Poland is also likely to develop more and more rapidly. This is favored by, among other things, a warming climate.
It is Małopolska that is home to one of the newest oenotourism routes - the Małopolska Wine Route, which has already connected 50 wineries as of 2021.

The elephant grazes, and there the wines....
The projected vineyard is located in the village of Kobylany, not far from Krakow. Nearby are picturesque landscape attractions, such as the Bolechowicka Valley or the Będkowska Valley and the climbing rocks there, including the popular "Dupa Słonia".
Analyzing the surrounding development, which is dominated by new construction, the author decided on the form of a vineyard, towering and contrasting with its surroundings. Hence the location of the building at the top of the hill and the choice of the material covering the main blocks: corten in a rusty shade, which will be covered with patina over time.

Unlike the main block, the smaller, auxiliary ones were made of limestone, a local building material, so they blend in with the natural landscape.
Another material that runs through Aleksandra Petrov's design is cork. It refers, of course, to the corks in wine bottles, but at the same time panels with high thermal insulation properties can be made from it.

A new location on the Malopolska Wine Route?
Suitable conditions for the growth of vines have been developed. The plantation fields in the project cover an area of 5.2 hectares, from which grapes enough to produce more than 34,000 bottles of wine will be harvested.
The site of the plantation and production facility, in addition to its primary function, in Aleksandra Petrov's work has also become a place where visitors gain knowledge about wine making. At the winery, visitors can also take advantage of the food and beverage area, taste wines or use the visitors' terrace, which offers an expansive view of the landscape.

There is also a conference room, designed for corporate meetings or wine and cultural events.
The project also includes a winemaker ' s house with a garage, located close to the wine plant and isolated from tourist traffic by means of high greenery.

The aim of the project was not only to create an additional place on the map of ethnotourism in the vicinity of Krakow, but also to revitalize the local countryside. The work was included in the "Catalogue of the most interesting diplomas 2023" Faculty of Architecture at the Warsaw University of Technology.
