Students of the Faculty of Architecture at Poznań University of Technology - Wiktoria Szydłowska and Olga Łukaszuk - created a design for the sushi restaurant "Dot&Roll", under the supervision of dry Ewa Angoneze-Greli. The concept was created as part of a design assignment to develop an interior for real investors - a Polish-Chinese couple planning to expand or adapt an existing garage into a mini sushi restaurant. The students had a choice between a budget version, a compact version (focused on take-out orders) or a premium variant with an expansion option.

open kitchen - a culinary spectacle
The design of the "Dot&Roll" restaurant is based on a modern and consistent visual language. The leitmotif is a black grid with an orange dot, referring to the restaurant's logo and building a strong identity for the place. The interior is divided into three main zones: the main room, an atmospheric winter garden and an outdoor garden. Each of them has been designed to provide maximum comfort and aesthetic experience for guests. In addition, carefully selected materials and textures, such as oak wood, glass and concrete, give the space a modern but cozy feel.

The heart of the restaurant is the open kitchen, where the process of preparing sushi becomes a real spectacle. Guests can watch master chefs prepare each sushi roll with precision and craftsmanship. The interior color scheme is inspired by the natural ingredients of sushi - orange and green accents contrast with neutral shades of white, black and light oak. The lighting and graphics on the walls emphasize the modern character of the space, while the carefully planned table layout is conducive to both larger groups and those seeking an intimate atmosphere.

green relaxation zone - winter garden and terrace
The winter garden is a unique zone that combines coziness and contact with nature. Thanks to the glass walls, guests can enjoy the view of greenery and at the same time observe the work of the cooks through a special window opening in the kitchen wall. During the summer season, the open space allows the interior to integrate with the outdoor garden. This garden was designed with comfort and aesthetics in mind - lush vegetation, water features and carefully selected garden furniture create an atmosphere conducive to relaxation and tranquility. In turn, concrete panels and wooden pergolas add a modern touch to the space, harmonizing with the restaurant's interior.

The design of "Dot&Roll" takes into account not only aesthetics, but also functionality and comfort of users/users. The layout of the interior was planned in such a way as to allow the free flow of guests and staff. Appropriate seating arrangements, both in the main hall and in the garden areas, provide a sense of privacy while fostering integration. The interior acoustics have been designed to reduce noise, so the restaurant maintains a pleasant atmosphere even during peak hours.

design to meet modern expectations
Working on this project was a major challenge, which required combining elements of volume architecture and interior design. The students approached it in an ambitious and professional manner, resulting in a coherent, functional and aesthetically pleasing concept for a sushi restaurant. The "Dot&Roll" project is proof that a well-designed space can not only attract guests, but also emphasize the unique character of a dining establishment.

Thanks to such projects, architecture students have the opportunity to face real design challenges, and their work can inspire future investors and interior designers. "Dot&Roll" is an example of a place where modernity meets tradition, and design and functionality go hand in hand, creating a unique atmosphere.
