Acoustics have a major impact on how functional, comfortable and productive a place is for its users. Yet acoustic planning is often not given much attention in the design of commercial buildings, resulting in the need for costly improvements soon after the property is put into use. In response to this problem, Ruukki has introduced the Ruukki® Acoustic solution. The built-in sound-absorbing products provide great freedom of design and adaptation to different building types. Because they are components that are an integral part of the building's exterior envelope, there is no need to retrofit the building upon completion, and fewer stages of work increase efficiency and safety.

Optimal acoustic environment based on lightweight building components
Ruukki® Acoustic includes roof-bearing trapezoidal sheets, absorbing materials and cladding products, which together create an intelligently constructed acoustic environment.The solution, designed primarily for sports and industrial halls, schools and commercial buildings, reduces background noise and reverberation. The lightweight, economical and easy-to-install modular design provides the desired acoustic performance of the building under construction, up to the highest absorption class A.
Load-bearing roof profiles, together with appropriate layers of thermal insulation, create an effective sound absorption solution for interiors. The structural design of perforated load-bearing sheets is carried out in the Ruukki® Poimu calculation program available on the Ruukki Design Tools portal. All necessary laboratory-verified acoustic properties are given in the relevant documents. Profile thickness is selected based on load-bearing capacity and has no effect on acoustic properties.

Ruukki® Acoustic also covers wall and ceiling applications. The sound absorption solution is available with a 100 mm thick absorption layer based on lightweight profiles as a support structure and is compatible with all Ruukki Design profiles and low profiles with 30% perforation. Various profile shapes and colors provide design freedom and excellent aesthetic results. The solution is easy to install on any base wall or roof structure.
-The first project using Ruukki's acoustic products involved a padla playing hall in Finland. The facility, which has been in operation for more than a year, has received much positive feedback from players and visitors to the hall. The sounds of the game do not disturb those in the rest area. In the 11-meter high hall, we managed to reduce the reverberation time to 2.5 seconds," says Arkadiusz Krześniak and adds: - Ruukki® Acoustic also includes special solutions dedicated to buildings with very high acoustic requirements. This mainly applies to energy buildings, where we are already implementing several interesting projects.
