How to design garden lighting

Building or buying a house is a big challenge, but outdoor lighting is the next step in the arrangement. Regardless of the type of the house, every garden has some common features that need to be properly illuminated. There are 4 zones that should be highlited. Each of them requires a different type of lighting to be functional.

LIGHTING OF THE ENTRANCE ZONE AND THE ENTRANCE TO THE HOUSE

Lighting the entrance zone of a home, including the driveway and front door, is crucial for daily functionality and the safety of homeowners. When darkness falls, a well-lit environment creates comfort and a sense of security. This zone can be illuminated in several ways. For the roof soffit, we recommend Kanlux DROXY decorative rings, which are ideal for outdoor use due to their high weather resistance. When it comes to porch lighting, Kanlux BENO plafonders or Kanlux AQUILO surface-mounted luminaires will work great as the main source of light. If you want to use a wall sconce type of lighting, consider Kanlux VIMO fixtures with motion sensors that only activate when needed. Alternatively, choose Kanlux LAVEN fixtures with Kanlux XLED ST64A bulbs, which will add elegance and unique character. Driveway lighting can be accomplished with floodlights, such as Kanlux iQ-LED, or ground-mounted lamps, depending on individual preferences and needs. Their proper selection and placement will create a pleasant atmosphere and add charm to your property.

ILLUMINATION OF THE RECREATION AREA IN THE GARDEN

The dream of a „HOUSE with a GARDEN” includes a terrace — often treated like an open-air living room. The vision of barbecue, morning coffee on the terrace or evening relaxation on the garden sofa tempts most. For several seasons now, an increasingly popular solution for terrace lighting are garlands. Added to them, atmospheric LED bulbs with warm light colors put us in a good mood, as we associate them with holiday laziness and celebration of time with loved ones. The trend of pendant lamps is strongly entering terrace arrangements. Here it is especially important to emphasize the issue of safety. Since this is the exterior zone of the house, hanging lamps should have a minimum of IP44 parameter. For the above we suggest a hanging lamp from the Kanlux LIEGO series. If you lack table illumination when meeting friends or need an additional lamp when relaxing with a book, we suggest the KANLUX INITA portable table lamp. You can use this decorative rechargeable lamp at home as well as take it with you outside. Since the lamp does not need mains power to operate, you can easily move it to the place where you happen to need it.

WELL-LIT PATHS IN THE GARDEN

For larger gardens, where the area exceeds 400 m², we can have additional paths in the garden. Their lighting is our safety, but also a kind of signpost in which direction to go to get to the next interesting place in the garden. Paths are especially important in gardens near HORECA facilities or in the spaces of urban settlements. Our proposal is a series of luminaires with replaceable light source Kanlux PEVO. These luminaires are designed for walking areas, alleys and green areas. Kanlux PEVO posts give an interesting, non-intrusive lighting effect. An interchangeable light source is an additional advantage — we can adjust it to our needs ourselves.

LIGHTING PLANTS IN THE GARDEN

A garden without plants would lose its charm. The variety of their colors and flowering periods gives character to any space. Illuminating plants will make the garden beautiful even after dark. Beautifully exposed plants with light is also a recipe for a nice view from the kitchen or living room window. Pole-type luminaires, such as the Kanlux PRESO series, perfectly expose plants. On the other hand, for directional plant lighting, choose luminaires that allow you to adjust the angle of the light, such as Kanlux USTI. Their movable heads allow you to precisely direct the light, highlighting selected elements of the garden. In addition, luminaires with two light points allow you to adjust the lampshades independently, which gives you more design possibilities.
