A way to have good acoustics in a hotel

01 of April '20

In the second half of 2019, the first guests could visit the newly built hotel The Bridge in Wroclaw, which was built in an atmospheric and historic part of Wroclaw, namely Ostrow Tumski.

Forum Architekci Lose Goncerzewicz design office from Wroclaw paid attention to a very important aspect here, namely the acoustics of the ceilings from impact sounds. The comfort and silence of future clients was taken care of by using Regupol® Sound 47 acoustic matting under the sub-ceiling. The material was laid on the ceilings of more than 5,200m2 of hotel space.

In the case of this project, it was an important factor that the acoustic mat, at a low thickness (due to the limited available height of the floor layout), should guarantee very good technical performance with the ability to take high static and dynamic loads. Regupol® sound 47 acoustic mat accepts loads of up to 3t/m2, improving floor acoustics from impact sound by 22dB.

Errors in the acoustic insulation of partitions are insanely difficult and costly, and sometimes impossible to correct. That is why it is so important to properly design and build a floor partition that meets the PN-B-02151-3:2015-10 standard indicating the minimum parameters of floor partition insulation from impact sound.

For multi-family buildings and hotels it is ≤55 dB, impact sound level penetrating into the hotel room from general traffic areas ≤55 dB , for corridors, stairwells and also single-family and row houses in the direction of transfer to the foreign building≤ 53dB, in office buildings and schools ≤58dB, while the sound level penetrating from the garage, technical room to the dwelling and hotel room ≤48dB.

It should be noted that these values are derived from the Standard and do not guarantee the comfort of the facilities.

According to §323 of Section IX of the Technical Conditions to which buildings and their location should conform (WT), the building and related facilities should be designed and built so that the noise level to which users will be exposed does not pose a threat to their health, and will enable them to work, rest and sleep in satisfactory conditions.

REGUPOL BSW has been producing solutions to help dampen ceilings for years.

A range of sub-ceiling products dedicated to hotels and multi-family housing has been created, with thicknesses from 5 to 8 mm, which guarantee very high ∆Lnw coefficients, according to tests according to PN-EN ISO 717-2.

The series of products dedicated to hotels is designated Regupol® Sound, Regupol® Comfort.
