What is and how does an air curtain work? The main task of an air curtain is to isolate a room from the influence of external factors. It is an ideal solution for rooms where doorways are exposed to constant opening and closing or remain open for most of the day. This causes discomfort to customers and employees, so air curtains are used to reduce this phenomenon. They are designed for public facilities such as stores, office buildings, hotels or gas stations.

The main task of the air curtain is thermal protection of the room. A stream of air coming out of the device at the right speed creates a barrier in the plane of the doorway, which protects the room from the influx of cold air from outside in winter and from the entry of warm air into air-conditioned facilities in summer. In addition, it protects the interior from the influx of insects, dust or exhaust gases. By selecting the right air curtain, you can save up to 80% of energy losses caused by inadequate air flow.

An air curtain that fits 99% of door openings
FLOWAIR has a wide range of air curtains in its portfolio. However, in order to make it easier for customers to choose - especially individual investors - FLOWAIR has introduced the universal Slim air curtain, which discreetly provides a comfortable, draft-free indoor climate. The Slim air curtain will prove useful wherever doors are frequently opened, i.e. in stores, restaurants or service showrooms. It fits the needs of 99% of facilities and effectively protects door openings of up to 3.2 m in height.
Advantages of Slim air curtain
The Slim air curtain is a plug-and-play device. Built-in buttons on the side of the unit make it possible to adjust the air barrier to the investor's needs. There is no need to retrofit the air curtain with an additional controller, which reduces investment costs at the very beginning. In addition, it is the only air curtain on the market with a built-in motion sensor as standard, which activates the air curtain when motion is detected around the unit. No additional door automation is needed anymore. The Slim air curtain is an almost invisible piece of equipment, thanks to its small size and slim shape. It is the narrowest air curtain on the market, measuring only 189 mm in height.

An air curtain that cannot be seen or heard
The Slim air curtain was designed according to the slim design principle, that is, the designers discarded everything that is unnecessary, keeping in mind moderation and economy of form. The Slim Curtain does not disturb the character of the interior and fits perfectly into the doorway. With two colors as standard - deep black and white with black accents - Slim complements the interior architecture, while guaranteeing maximum space savings. It is also possible to order the air curtain in any RAL color.
Each device generates at least minimal noise during operation. Air curtains in this case are no exception. The Slim air curtain is designed to reduce noise levels. In silent mode it operates quieter than the conversations going on around it. It is almost silent, without causing discomfort to those in its vicinity.

Design highlights
The design of the unit has been thought out from many angles. For example, the unit has been equipped with a drive unit from a renowned German company, with a very large active outlet area. The outlet grille has been divided into two independently adjustable parts to create an even more effective air stream.
One set of brackets has been prepared for three lengths of curtains and for both horizontal and vertical mounting, which greatly simplifies the very purchase and subsequent installation of the device. In addition, the optimized shape of the unit together with the opening service flap allows direct access to the automation.

Air curtain with air filter
The Slim air curtain can be retrofitted with an easily replaceable external filter module. The filter improves air quality, and the unit is protected from the ingress of dirt and other contaminants. The filter is mounted on the top surface of the unit with integrated brackets, so it is easy to install and remove.
Summary
FLOWAIR, as the only Polish manufacturer of HVAC equipment, which is a member of the EUROVENT association, has built a test stand for measuring the effectiveness of air curtains. Based on the results and tests conducted, the new Slim air curtain was created - a discreet, quiet and reliable device that fits the needs of 99% of facilities and effectively protects doorways up to 3.2 m high.
