theoretical category

The theoretical category evaluated works describing phenomena in public space, concerning public buildings, typology, history and socio-economic changes. The submitted works were evaluated by a jury consisting of Dr. Tomasz Slawinski, Tomasz Fudala, Dr. Marta Lesniakowska.

Main prize - Michal Tomasz Wolszczak

Michal Tomasz Wolszczak, a graduate of Jagiellonian University, received the main prize for his work entitled. "Urban Drift. Human activity in urbanized space", done under the supervision of Dr. Krzysztof Gwosdz.

As we read in the justification of the jury:

The work is representative of behavioral studies and human geography, and its cognitive focus is on human activity in space, including the urban drift, a philosophical model of movement in space that has been poorly studied so far. As a result of multifaceted analyses based on observation, social research and behavioral geography, the author achieved the intended goal of his research, which was to operationalize the phenomenon of urban drift and identify it. Resultantly, they confirmed the existence of the title phenomenon and allowed to define its components and factors affecting its formation in space. The jury recognized the submitted work as a significant scientific achievement, with significant cognitive values, which opens up new areas of research in various fields of knowledge and practice, including those of particular relevance in architecture, urban planning and spatial planning and related disciplines.
