A new dimension of flexibility in HVAC design
HVAC design in small and medium-sized commercial buildings increasingly requires a compromise between limited technical space and growing user expectations. Facades and roofs today are not just technical facilities - they are an integral part of the architectural composition. In this context, solutions that make it possible to reduce the number of devices while maintaining high functionality are of particular importance.

MDV's Quantum series was developed precisely for such scenarios. It's a system designed for facilities such as offices, restaurants, stores or showrooms, where both efficiency and the ability to precisely tailor the installation to the layout of the space are important.

Hybrid SPLIT/MULTI concept in design practice
The most important distinguishing feature of the Quantum system is its hybrid characteristics. The solution allows operation in both 1:1 and 1:2 configurations, which means that two indoor units can be connected to one unit. Both units operate independently, but in the same operating mode.
From a design point of view, this means greater freedom of installation design, especially in mixed-function facilities with different heat load profiles. Reducing the number of outdoor units translates not only into solid aesthetics, but also into simplified installation routing and reduced investment costs.

Operating parameters adapted to changing conditions
MDV's Quantum system operates in a capacity range of 7 to 16 kW, which allows it to be used in a wide range of commercial buildings. The outdoor unitsuse full DC Inverter technology, including both compressor and fan. This ensures smooth capacity regulation and stable operation under varying loads.
Another important aspect is the wide operating temperature range, from -15°C to +55°C in cooling mode and from -20°C to +27°C in heating mode. Such parameters make it possible to operate the system in diverse climatic and functional conditions, without the need for additional supporting solutions.
On the other hand, the use of R32 refrigerant (GWP = 675) is in line with current environmental requirements and the development directions of the HVAC industry.

Installation as part of the design strategy
In design practice, one of the key constraints is the installation route and the availability of technical spaces. Quantum offers great flexibility in this regard - the maximum length of the installation is up to 100 m, and the height difference between units can reach 30 m.
Such parameters allow the installation to be carried out freely in multi-story buildings, as well as in modernized facilities, where interference with the existing structure must be limited. An additional advantage is the compact size of outdoor units, allowing them to be transported by standard elevators and installed in hard-to-reach locations.

Different usage scenarios - one system
The flexibility of the Quantum system is also evident in the selection of indoor units. Three basic types are available: wall-mounted, four-sided cassette and high compression duct units, allowing you to match the solution to the nature of the space.
Wall-mounted units are used where aesthetics and low noise levels are important - from 27 dB(A). The bi-directional Coanda airflow technology used reduces direct discharge, improving user comfort.
Four-sided cassettes provide uniform 360° airflow and individual control of louvers. Additional static pressure of 50 Pa allows their use in rooms up to 4.5 m high.
For spaces that require concealed installation, high compression duct units are used. They provide a constant airflow regardless of the resistance of the installation, and the monitoring system makes it possible to assess the degree of dirtiness of the filters on a 10-point scale.
In all variants, condensate pumps with a head of up to 1,200 mm are standard, facilitating drainage design.
Integration and plant management
Modern facilities require integration of technical systems at the building management level. Quantum enables collaboration with BMS systems using protocols such as Modbus and BACnet. Central control and solutions for remote monitoring and management of plant operations are also available.

Technology to support architecture
When it comes to HVAC systems, it is less and less common to talk only about technical parameters. Their impact on architectural design and the investment process is becoming equally important. Quantum fits into this trend, offering a solution that combines configuration flexibility, energy efficiency and integration capabilities.
For the architect, this means greater control over the form of the building and its technical facilities. For the investor - cost optimization and operational stability.
