Heat pump subsidy - what are your options?

16 of August '23

From the series "Air conditioning, ventilation, heating—solutions, trends 2023"

Climate warming is becoming a reality. When the ozone hole and the reasons behind its appearance were discovered, measures were quickly taken to stop its development. The countries of the world then signed the Montreal Protocol, symbolically beginning an era of struggle to save the planet.

Since then, a number of technologies have been developed to help minimize the negative impact on the environment: these include heat pumps, which make it unnecessary to use fossil fuels. However, they have proven to be quite expensive, so many investors are eager to take advantage of the possibility of subsidies for a heat pump. Recently, the opportunities in this regard have been wider than ever before. Thanks to programs such as "My Heat", „Stop Smog”, „Clean Air”, „Warm Apartment” or the tax credit for thermomodernization, the heat pump can become a solution for anyone who wants to combine concern for ecology with savings.

Subsidies for heat pumps were created with both savings and ecology in mind. Thanks to them, Poles are contributing to green change and taking care of the planet.

Learn about heat pump subsidies in 2023

Obtaining information on methods of financial support in 2023 is crucial for anyone planning a green investment. Subsidies provide significant relief to the household budget, which is especially important in uncertain times. Programs such as Clean Air not only reduce the cost of investment, but also make modern technologies accessible to a wider audience.

Choosing green appliances that work for our comfort is a guarantee of living in harmony with nature, but also of long-term savings that we will notice during their operation, for example, during the heating season. Lawmakers are still working to expand subsidy opportunities, as exemplified by the Clean Air Plus program.

The possibility of receiving a heat pump subsidy depends on the scale of the planned work and whether, as investors, we qualify for the subsidy. For example, owners of new homes can apply for support from the My Warmth program, while residents of multi-family buildings can take advantage of the Warm Housing subsidy. It is also worth noting the thermal modernization tax credit, which in the PIT return allows to deduct part of the expenses incurred from income and thus reduce the tax base.

It should also be remembered that not only individual investors are entitled to and can benefit from the subsidy. A heat pump can be a technology whose installation will be supported by municipalities. Those in the area covered by the anti-smog resolution can also apply for support for their residents under the Stop Smog program, which supports the elimination of high-emission heat sources, thermal modernization of buildings, as well as connection of facilities to a district heating or gas network.

Deadly diseases such as cancer are often caused by smog. Subsidies for heat pumps help level its amount in the air.

How to successfully apply for a heat pump subsidy?

To qualify for a heat pump subsidy, you must meet certain conditions. If you are the owner of a new home, understood as one for which no notice of completion of construction has been filed, no occupancy permit has been issued, or such notice or decision has a date no earlier than 01.01.2021, you can apply for a subsidy from the My Heat program.

If, on the other hand, you own an apartment in a multi-family building, the Warm Housing program can help. It is aimed at municipalities, which will then distribute the money to residents—owners of units located in multi-family blocks.

Keep in mind that the application process differs depending on whether you are an individual or not. In any case, however, the key is to meet all the required conditions and properly complete the application.

Some programs are not applied for directly by investors, but by municipalities. It is therefore worth finding out if our municipality is not participating in such a program.

Conditions to be met—your ticket to subsidies

To successfully apply for heat pump subsidies, it is crucial to meet all the required formal criteria. What should you pay attention to when looking for the right program for you?

  • Necessary documents—different programs may require a variety of certificates and relevant applications. Carefully check which papers to prepare and how to fill them out correctly.
  • Deadlines—when it comes to subsidies, it's not only the date of application, but also the date of construction of the building, planned thermal modernization or even commissioning of the new house. Sometimes it is possible to apply for a grant before a given time, it is worth verifying this to avoid surprises.
  • Appropriate conditions for the purchase of equipment—in the rules and regulations of some programs, there may be additional requirements, for example, regarding the certificates of installers or the technologies used.

Once you have refined your application, you can apply for a heat pump subsidy online, at a government office or bank. The application process can take several weeks, and in some cases even months, so it is advisable to deliver the application as early as possible and be patient.

Is it worth it? Analysis of the benefits of a heat pump subsidy

The decision to invest in a heat pump is not only a step towards an ecological lifestyle, but also a chance for significant savings, which you will notice already in the first heating season. Thanks to the use of renewable energy, the cost of operating the device is usually lower compared to traditional heating systems.

No matter what is purchased through the subsidy—a heat pump, photovoltaics, modern doors or airtight windows—each of these decisions will have a positive impact on the environment. Heat pumps, such as those offered by KAISAI, are low-carbon and use renewable energy sources, helping to reduce harmful greenhouse gas emissions and helping to lower heating expenses.
