Technology and hygiene squared - innovative SCHELL faucets

26 of June '25

from the series "Ecological solutions - trends, technologies 2025"

At a time when buildings must meet stringent criteria for ecological and economic efficiency, water mixer solutions that provide both economy, maximum hygiene and reliability are gaining in importance. SCHELL E² smart electronic faucets are equipped with high-precision control mechanisms to minimize water consumption, while solutions from the MODUS CARE range provide the ideal solution for particularly sensitive application areas. The company's extensive portfolio is complemented by control valves made of high-quality brass that have been proven in hundreds of millions of applications.

Infrared-controlled mixers are an increasingly common choice not only in public buildings, but also with residential areas, as they guarantee reduced water consumption and improved hygiene, in addition to a prestigious appearance and maximum ease of operation. The advanced faucets of the SCHELL E² range are distinguished by their striking design and extremely precise control. Intelligent solutions can be parameterized very easily using a smartphone and a dedicated app. An exceptionally difficult application area with special requirements is healthcare facilities, where user comfort and hygiene must go hand in hand with user safety and energy savings. With such applications in mind, the MODUS CARE series was developed, which is distinguished by its ergonomic design and increased protection against burns thanks to an integrated thermostat.

Reliable technology and intelligent control

The XERIS E², CELIS E² and PURIS E² faucets combine a timeless look with a carefully thought-out, all-metal resistant design and modern options. A Bluetooth® module built into the mixer creates a direct connection between the electronics and the app. This makes it possible to save settings in the faucet profile and transfer them to multiple components. Integrated ToF sensors eliminate the possibility of accidental actuation under the influence of reflected light, for example, which translates into the elimination of waste. The application offers three predefined modes of operation. Depending on the application, you can shorten or lengthen the water discharge time or save electricity. You can also set all the parameters yourself by selecting the expert mode. A complete novelty is anti-stagnation flushing of the plumbing system when needed. The faucets spontaneously start for a short time depending on the current water consumption and when it is necessary to guarantee circulation.

The clear visualization available in the app allows you to quickly check the status of the faucet and suggests recommended actions. With just a few taps on the app, you can set an anti-stagnation flushing schedule and take care of the quality of your drinking water, check the charge level, battery status or view reports. In addition, all HD-M faucets in the new E² series are equipped with a mixer with individually adjustable hot water limiter, while the XERIS E²-T model is equipped with a ThermoProtect thermostat. The IP67-rated housing effectively protects the sensor module from dust and water. The easy-to-clean surface and specially built-in aerator guarantee maximum durability and hygiene. As an additional improvement, an LED light indicates low battery or locks for cleaning.

Maximum hygiene and safety

The new SCHELL MODUS Care EH-T and MODUS Care AH sink faucets were developed to meet the specific needs of medical and nursing staff, as well as patients and their caregivers. The former offers integrated burn protection for those with limited mobility, while the latter offers hygienic elbow lever operation. Both models are equipped with a special hygienic laminar flow controller that reduces aerosol formation and thus reduces the risk of droplet transmission of bacteria and viruses. The MODUS Care EH-T solution is designed especially for use in retirement or nursing homes, among others, but will also work well in private homes. A gently elongated lever with a hole makes it easy to adjust. Maximum protection against possible scalding is provided by the ThermoProtect system integrated in the faucet body, which keeps the temperature of the outflowing water at an individually set level not exceeding 38°C. MODUS Care AH, on the other hand, is an ideal choice for doctors' offices, treatment rooms, as well as operating rooms in hospitals. Its design allows for elbow operation, which reduces the risk of transmitting microorganisms on the hands. For maximum safety, the lever moves only horizontally. When the lever is moved to the left, cold water initially flows out. To raise its temperature, move it again in the same direction. In addition, the integrated hot water limiter allows you to individually set the maximum temperature to prevent scalding.

Additional savings with control valves

Wherever water saving is important and the way sanitary rooms are used precludes the use of electronic faucets, for example, you can also use the simplest and cheapest way to reduce water consumption, which is the installation of SCHELL COMFORT control valves. Unlike traditional shut-off fittings, they additionally allow you to preliminarily reduce water consumption even before it reaches the tap point. All you have to do is reduce the flow volume with the handy COMFORT knob.

Proper water flow control with SCHELL COMFORT control valves translates into an initial savings of up to 40%. SCHELL valves are made of water-resistant materials and have a special lubrication chamber that protects their mechanism from seizure. As a result, they operate lightly and trouble-free even after many years.
